Gk 1001rbll vs. Carbine m9 vs. Ampeg?

The M6 with a couple 8 ohm cabs (4 ohm total load), is louder than anything I'd ever need. Plus, it will handle a 2 ohm load. As a reference point, I play 5-strings and really like the headroom of higher wattage amps. So I'd usually vote for more watts than less. That said, with enough...

Thanks to all of you who attended the Rocky Mountain Bass Slam. A great day of bass, for a worthy cause, and some lucky attendees won an MTD Kingston Saratoga bass and a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.2 amp. All the performers were great! I had a blast, and the highlight of my day was getting to meet...

Gk 1001rbll vs. Carbine m9 vs. Ampeg?

You really need to play them all to form your own opinion. I've owned an Ampeg SVT in the 70s/80s, and currently have the GK and Mesa in stock at my store. All are great amps, but dfferent for sure. Tweaking the EQ can go a long way, especially if you assume all knobs at noon is flat. (e.g...

    Genz Uber 410

The 410 is a great cab for those heads, but always listen with your ears for signs of distress. I wouldn't call it a light cab at 72 pounds, but it is quite a bit lighter than some other competing cabs (example: and Aguilar DB410 is 98 pounds).

My first setup - Wow! If I had known it was this easy I'd have saved a lot of dough

Great job! Everyone who plays bass needs to know how to do a basic setup. Tools required are minimal, and there's no lack of resources on the interent and YouTube for what to do. I've been showing people who come in to my store who need some simple stuff done how to do it themselves. Many...
