I think the bedroom vs live tone argument has already been well stated, and to me it's less that there's a difference between the two (there totally is, I dunno that it's really an argument with opposing sides), and more that most people's EQ/mixing knowledge is based on bedroom...

The color of your bass is low on the list of things to be concerned with, it's your rig, and you were the one invited. If the music isn't good, or the live mix is heavy on acoustic guitars and vocals, the gig isn't gonna live or die because of loud colors on your gear. Makes you less invisible...

Bright and smooth (in good ways), that's been my experience with the J45s so far. Probably need to experiment more with pickup heights, but plenty of top end to season to taste with the tone knob and dead quiet with either pup soloed. Have only played it out once so far, so still getting used to...

Got the J45 pickups installed, strung up a fresh set of flats, still needs a full set up but I'm liking it so far.
