Joke's on both of y'all his bass teacher is Herbie Flowers. ;) Oldest bass I've played was a '71 rick that I got to play at a Guitar Center.

I play a jazz with flats and love it. Also I'm pretty sure that's passive and it looks like he's using chromes. It looks like he's playing my bass, aside from the fretboard.

I've got what I'm told is a prototype of a Japanese squire, it's a red contemporary bass. I'm on my phone so I can't post the pics I have of it. But it's go no serial numbers on it and the back neck plate is a gold fender one as opposed to the silver ones that came on them when they were sold...

I recently got a a 60s re-issue. I love it, I loved that it sounded a bit more mellow. I'm currently running it with chromes to make it sound a bit more mellow than it did with rounds. I'd say it's worth it if you're into warmer mellower sounds. Also I loved that the frets were smaller.

Thanks everyone once again. I didn't mean for this thread to come off as "my gift isn't good enough". I've never seen one like it so I assumed it must have been defective. And to all saying thank him, that's the first thing I did.

Well thanks so much for making me feel better! I thought maybe it was just a bad piece of wood, so I felt like we might have gotten gipped. Like I said it's not as bad as I remembered, today has just been terrible (aside from getting a new bass). The more I look at it the more I like it.

I really do appreciate the gift, and it does make the bass a tad unique. I think I'm mainly upset because how my day has gone so far.
