Who else is waiting for new bass on backorder?

I sent an email to my local Long and McQuade store last Wednesday asking if they would honor their six months 0% interest "Fender Month" offer on an out-of-stock 3-tone sunburst CV 60s Precision Bass. They replied: Yikes!

    Why no tortoise pickguard?

I spotted Invalid Link Removed yesterday on the Fender/Squier site. For the price, it is very close to my dream instrument, but what's up with the black pickguard? The sunburst finish and rosewood fingerboard cry out for tortoise. What were they thinking? More importantly, who sells a tort...

Anybody tried the new Peavey IPR DSP's?

I am wondering if the IPR 1600 DSP will do what I need it to do. I would like to send the signal from my bass preamp into the IPR and use it to do the following: • Use the IPR's internal crossover to send everything below 900 Hz or so to both of the IPR's amp channels (for bridge operation...

    Bass thru Guitar Amp Question

What's the amp? (Make and model) Does it actually have a headphone jack? You will likely not blow anything up but more info would be good. :bassist:

    Speaker cable/wiring question

Is the existing cable a speaker cable or an instrument cable? If it is a speaker cable and the cabinet is open-back, it will work just fine. :bassist:

Cabinet builders - should I buy this?

You should hear back from them soon. I have written to them a few times and the person who replies is often Mike Holman, the guy who wrote Invalid Link Removed in 2002. :bassist:

Cabinet builders - should I buy this?

Looks like a BC210. Eminence custom-built the 10" drivers for Yorkville. The Yorkville part number for the 10" drivers is 7281. Yorkville.com lists the 7406 driver as a replacement product for the 7281. You could send an email to [email protected] and ask about driver availability or possible...

    3015LF / fEARful question

I am biamping my rig using a 900 Hz crossover point between LF and MF and a 24 dB/octave slope. Looking at the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] it appears that a steep high pass filter set to 30-40 Hz is recommended to maximize power handling and help the driver live a long life. I play...

    The official Frank Zappa Thread!

I was lucky enough to see FZ live at the University of Waterloo (Ontario) -- "Dicky's Such an A**hole" period. Does anyone else remember Frank appearing on the Mike Douglas Show? Just him and his guitar and a pre-recorded track. I don't remember the song but I remember the conversation. It went...

Traynor YC-610 Sealed Cabinet - Replacement Speakers Needed

From the factory they were 5.33 ohms -- three series-connected pairs of eight ohm drivers in parallel -- 16/3 = 5.33. :bassist:

    Old music

Well sonny, when Alice and the boys released I'm Eighteen, I was 18 :D Led Zeppelin moves me the most, along with 60s British groups such as the Animals, the Stones, Cream and American stuff like the MC5, Johnny Winter, Doors, Airplane and so many more. Can't forget Black Sabbath either...

    The legendary Tommy Shannon

Hmm, how about Tal Wilkenfeld? Regardless, I first clued in to Tommy Shannon when Johnny Winter's first Columbia record was released in 1969. Tal, on the other hand, was born in 1986 :) :bassist:
