Why no tortoise pickguard?

I spotted Invalid Link Removed yesterday on the Fender/Squier site. For the price, it is very close to my dream instrument, but what's up with the black pickguard? The sunburst finish and rosewood fingerboard cry out for tortoise. What were they thinking? More importantly, who sells a tort pickguard that would be a perfect fit?

Because not everyone cares for tort. I know I don't.

+100 on that! Tort reminds me of the hideous eyeglasses I wore when I was ten years old! I much prefer the old classic parchment, white, or black pickguards on "vintage" or vintage-vibe basses. Besides, as has been mentioned previously many times, PGs are like ice cream...they make a bunch of different flavors so that everyone can be happy!

Yea, I guess we like to have fun with our opinions. And it's a forum, so we like to give our opinions.

I think the only way you're going to be 100% sure on a direct replacement on a pickguard is to pick up the phone and ask a few people. MIM, MIA, CIJ, Squier, they aren't simply interchangeable (and I'm sure the OP knows that).

Looking at the WD Music site: "Please note that this pickguard will ...not fit ... Squier®. If you don’t see what you are looking for please call 800-449-9348 ext. 112..."

Pickguards.us is probably a good place to look also. Call, ask, and make sure you know the exact guitar model (and its country of manufacture).

Once, several years ago, when I was still a college lad, I took about five or six excedrin for a really bad hangover.

Never, ever do this.

About an hour later I was vomiting into a toilet bowl. Mind you, I was empty, as I hadn't eaten any food that day, having only been drinking water.

I was basically vomiting almost nothing but blood, as the water had been expelled in the first heaves (before I made it to the bathroom.

By the end, you couldn't see the bottom of the toilet bowl, there was so much blood in the water.

The next time I saw a tort pickguard, and ever time after that, this event is what I always think of.

It looks almost exactly the same.
