I joined a band at the same time i began playing, and didn't play a show until a year or so down the line. Maybe about 2 or so years till I was comfortable.

Something that may be an option for you is a Laney Nexus. They come in a tube version. They only thing is it has 8 power amp tubes, so it takes a heavy wallet to maintain.
