Alternate method of installing flatwounds? On Ernie Ball string package

I just put a set of Cobalts on my bass today and, seeing the included instructions for the first time, did it like they said. After I finished tuning I sat the bass down on a chair and turned away and heard a pop and, the G string had snapped at the tuner. I have been using them since they were...

    New EB Cobalt Flats?

I just put a set of these on my Fender 70s Jazz bass and as soon as I finished tuning the G string broke while the bass was sitting in a chair. I wasn't even touching it. And no, I did not tune it an octave too high. Has anyone else had this happen on these strings or any strings for that...

I love chocolate ice cream, it doesn't suck!

So is this the thread I heard about where everyone is arguing about what flavor ice cream Adam Clayton liked?

I love chocolate ice cream, it doesn't suck!

I am curious what flavor of ice cream Adam Clayton likes. Probably vanilla.

I have to agree about soft serve. Once CBS bought it the quality went to hell. But now I hear they are making some really high quality ice cream in Mexico. Modern equipment and better raw materials. None of those cheap eggs that had no density and couldn't sustain its flavor very lomg.

And another thing. Choco is probably the highest sellin flavor but just because it makes a lot of money doesn't mean it is good. It is just commercialized better with lots of marketing by the "machine." "Have a cigar now."

I love chocolate ice cream, it doesn't suck!

I just don't get this groupie fascination with choco. I have tried it several times over the last 35 years and it has always seemed obscure, unpenetrable and overrated. I realize choco changed the art of ice cream making forever but other flavors taste better (at least to my sense of taste) and...

"Check In" here before and after your gigs, set 3 - everyone's drunk now!

Well, that totally sucked. The singer brought me a nice Hoffner bass to play so I wouldn't have to play the Squier but it didn't work for some odd reason. So I played the Squier and all I could hear was the strings clanging around because the way the PA was set up I didn't have a monitor so I...

"Check In" here before and after your gigs, set 3 - everyone's drunk now!

Now I really am not looking forward to this thing tomorrow morning. Due to being unemployed for the last 4 months I had to pawn my Fender Jazz 60's reissue yesterday and will have to play my old Squier bass that I relic'd up last year. It does look old but it sounds lousy. Then on top of that...

Kind of tired of Carol Kaye

Actually, welding is somewhat of an art, but I digress. I think the "lurker" was simply saying that maybe CK was more a fine bass player who played a lot of other people's stuff well rather than the fount of all things great in bass history as she sometimes comes across as. It's all good.

    Should you play Mustang Sally?

I love this idea. I so totally am going to make up some lyrics using 4 or 5 different languages for one of our songs at our next gig. Our singer can start it out saying, "Here's one you all know!" Then we sit back and watch the looks on their faces.

"Check In" here before and after your gigs, set 3 - everyone's drunk now!

My band has our second live performance this coming Sunday, but . . . wait for it . . . it is at 8 AM in a Sam's Club for an employee appreciation party. Just like when somebody stole my mood ring, I'm not sure how I feel about this.

    Rick Danko Fan Club

I didn't realize this club existed until today. The Last Waltz version of Makes No Difference is in every one of my iPod playlists at the top. It's a bass/male vocalist version of Billie Holliday or Janis (Poor Janis) Joplin IMHO laying their heart out there. I humbly request a number please.

    Ernie Ball Cobalts... any good?

    Ditto

Has the bass world changed to flatwounds?

Actually, I play with flats and use a Mont Blanc fountain pen everyday. I guess I should start a new club here.
