From personal experience, a 4 pro with two 810's sounds and feels incredibly loud, definitely not anemic whatsoever. There really isnt anything else that feels like 16 10's pounding on stage. Once you play with that backline you will not want to use just one of the cabs.

I had crossover go bad in a PR15H. I just bypassed the crossover and wired straight from the 1/4 input to the 15" driver. I never used the tweeter anyways.

i had this exact same problem with an old qsc amp i had and i found that duct tape works extremely well.

That would be a rad setup. I've never had the opportunity to play through anything like that before, or any tube amps for that matter. I mean I've played through SVT's at GC, I don't know anyone that ownes a tube amp. I'm not sure if I would be able to get the stage volume that I'm after with...
