    I have a 4 and a 5. I always go for the 5. I presume being a woman that people will automatically think 'Wow a woman playing a 5 string bass.. she must be fantastic' but to be fair I've never really thought about it that much. I just play how I'm comfortable.

    Definately sounds like you need a change of direction. But don't sell your gear. I sold my old gear and regretted it.

    Having never played a gig I will be watching this thread and taking detailed notes! Especially as that ever so nerve wracking first gig is becoming more and more a possibilty in the near future..

    Oh dear lord I can't believe I'm posting these.. Disclaimer... I'd been playing about a month after a long gap of no playing... and that bass was a rubbish £50 ebay job!! I'm MUCH better now and have much better basses! Rage against the machine - bombtrack I really need to get some...

    The only real vids I have of me were when I had picked up bass again after about a 2 yr gap and I was sooooooooooo out of practice. Completely murdered hysteria by muse! lol!

    IMHO it doesn't matter if you play with your fingers, a pick or a baseball bat.. as long as you enjoy what you're playing and love how it sounds why the hell should it matter?

    Waheeeeeeeeeeeeey finally an OLP appreciation thread... I love my OLP.. it's a Traben TB4 bought for £140 no idea what that is in dollars but it's cheap! Sounds really funky and looks sexy as hell :D
