Official Fender Bassman Club Pt II

I run my bass thru a MIG50, which is a clone of a tweed 59 Bassman. It’s a really rich amp at all volumes, but around vol 4, it starts growling. Not a total distortion. But it’s noticeably “grindy.” and also, very loud.

The non reverse firebird shape is one of the only Gibson shapes I personally like. Man that color too. What an instrument!

P basses were meant to be 4 string

my bass – 4-string, squire P bass – is set up in A standard... def needs heavy strings & a pretty serious a set-up, but it's a cool tuning. the lows are massive. even the upper register stuff has a lot of bottom-thump. The open / low A can be a bit much; it's not for everything, but rolling up...

okay, updating my dinky rig! as of yesterday, i am a proud part of the ampeg/ Portaflex family! sat down w/ it yesterday for multiple hours and was pretty blown away by the both depth & clarity i was getting from 2 10s... the horn was off and i'll probably leave it that way. and (imho) it looks...

I only have $1500 to spend and I really need some advice.

given your budget i'd stay away from tube amps - just go right for like a 500 w solid state monster. that said, GK Has a hybrid line that seems awesome and at great prices.

Do your pedals cost more than your basses?

it's basically a dead tie. 1 squire p Bass (+ warrantee.) 1 overdrive, 1 power supply, a fuzz, a chorus..... the guitar comes out as more $$$, but the pedals are not far behind! yikes. lol

so true. yes. honestly, if anyone can actually tell a difference between tube or solid state rectification in an actual proper double-blind etc., i'd be stunned

so, this is what i'm currently rolling with. that's an EHX MIG-50 head. 50 watts, all tube (solid state rectification, actually, so not "all tube.") It's basically a tweed '59 Bassman circuit. Huge transformers. I absolutely swear by this amp, for guitar, but as a bass amp, man. basically i...

    Greetings from LA

Hi all– Long story short, i'm a few months into my bass journey... my current punk-desert/stoner rock band brought me on in an emergency capacity, and I thought it would be fun. I played a ton of electric blues (w/ occasional stabs at jazz) as a guitarist for 20+ yrs, so I figured i'd...
