Flats were my first hunch. What kind of flats. I have legends on my fretless and there is little sustain.

I'm with you. I sold any 4 strings I owned. Once you go 5 you never go back. 5th string thumb rest when not in use and just great string spacing. I own a fretless 5 and 3 fretted basses. All fender 5 ers

It may be because I roll the treble almost completely off as I like the boomy low sound with no top end, that this and almost anything I can make sound decent to my liking.
