Add a pickguard homie! Make it look like a stingray style or something. All kinds of cool things you can do to cover that up. Crap get a luthier to make you a cool contrasting wooden pickguard!

No interest in a used Pedulla? That's always my first thought in the 5 string fretless world. I like the Ibanez GWB's too, but it sounds like that's not a consideration.

All other things being equal... ie, playability and tone to my liking, I'd go with the 77 just on principal. Let us know what you decide!

I dunno about that price, but Warwicks are my favorite bass. The precision with which you can set them up to your specs is just fantastic. With that adjustable nut, you can really dial in your action and intonation. The just feel sooooooo good and sound amazing and play good and.... oh good...
