    Fender Aerodyne Club!

May I have #181 please? How well-known is the Aerodyne? Last week I showed up for my (zoom) lesson with the new Aerodyne, but I'd covered the markings on the headstock with gaffer tape ... I was curious to see if he'd recognize it. As expected his first question was, "What is that?!" (This...

    Fender Aerodyne Club!

Oh hey, there's an Aerodyne club. I've never been a fan of Fender-shaped basses because the aesthetics don't work for me, but my instructor has been light-heartedly nagging me about getting a P-bass for a long time. After the last conversation I asked Google about lightweight P-basses, came...

@emal Are you still interested in selling this? I'm actively in the market for an Aerodyne and am very interested.

SOLD PRICE Drop Aerodyne JaZZ Bass

Is this still available? Is it feasible to ship it to the US? If so I'm interested.

Software like Chord ai that picks out bass lines?

I'm a relatively novice bass player with middle-aged ears that struggle to pick bass lines out of the mix. I'm getting better with experience but it's still a source of frustration. I just came across the software Chord AI that will analyze a recording and identify the chords. I've only...

I fell prey to the Redsub.

Bass is closest to the neck, treble is closest to the bridge. I verified this by playing the B string and trying the neck knob, then doing the same with the G string. This weekend I upgraded to Gotoh tuning machines, whichever model Stewmac sells. While I had it apart I also put D'Addario...

N00b question about frequency response and hearing bass

The end result: I'm typing this while listening to Dark Side of the Moon on a pair of Kali LP-6s. I haven't optimized placement or the dipswitches on the back, just stuck one on a stand and the other temporarily on a shelf next to me. I can hear the bass clearly in everything I've listened...

N00b question about frequency response and hearing bass

Thanks all. I wound up getting a pair of Kali LP-6s. $300 for the pair seemed reasonable, and I'll install them next weekend after the stands arrive.

A million times yes on the strap locks. This isn't a very strong statement since I'm still very much a novice (albeit one with a penchant for buying instruments), but this is the first bass that I've ever felt a need to put strap locks on.

    Ashbory (Guild/DeArmond/Fender) Club

There's a club? A couple of weeks I was flipping through an old thread here and someone mentioned an Ashbory. "Hmm, what's that?" I spent an hour hunting for information followed by another hour of shopping and then there was an impulse purchase. As one does. It's quickly become the thing...

I fell prey to the Redsub.

I've used a Gator Transit gig bag (model GT-BASS-BLK) with mine and it fits pretty well. It's a tight fight lengthwise but it works and the padding is adjustable. If I was doing this regularly I would probably move the neck support a little bit. And yes, there are bits missing on the bass...

N00b question about frequency response and hearing bass

Learning to listen and hear is exactly what I want to do. I've just reached a point in my life where I'm not willing to make it harder for myself by using inferior tools to learn with. Plus, I keep looking at instruments and drooling over them and upgrading extremely crappy speakers (actually...

N00b question about frequency response and hearing bass

Thank you! I appreciate the diversity of opinions. I just did a test using the remaster of Peter Gabriel's Red Rain from YouTube, because it has some excellent B string action and listening to it a few times in a row didn't suck. I specifically paid attention to a section where the bass was...

N00b question about frequency response and hearing bass

TL;dr: How far below a speaker's published frequency response range can I go and still pick out the low end of a 5-string clearly? This is largely a question about hearing bass clearly, but it's also a forward-looking question about future recording and editing. I'm not sure how much I'm...

I fell prey to the Redsub.

Gear4Music ships directly to the US. I impulse purchased the 5-string Coliseum on February 11, it was shipped on February 12, and arrived in California on February 16. $395 + $65 for DHL delivery. My relatively-novice opinion: It's a better instrument than the price would suggest. It plays...
