I would personally trust Bongomania's advice much more than my own but as far as I can tell, the rocktron patchmate loop does exactlly what you are asking for, and it costs about 1/4th what the all access costs.

You wouldn't want to deal with trying to hook up stompboxes to it. If you wanted to control what stompboxes are on,this is an example of what you want.

One thing that makes it easier for me is to find chords that are "redundant" and ignore them. There's a good chance that the majority of the chords are just different ways of phrasing the same chord.
