Why so much hate for slap??

It all reminds me of the transitions in "Seinfield"...but a little goes a long way. It gets overused, just like shredding gets overused by guitarists. Like salt on food...its all a matter of How Much.

Showed up to recording session without a Fender...

Back in the mid-60's (I am an old dude) in Nashville I played a Gibson EB-3 (bought it new), and gigged through a Gibson Titan V amp (all tube, 2 x 15" JBL,s)...I thought I had a really great deep sounding gig rig, but I got "invited out" of three studios (Globe, Tree, and Monument) by the...

    Peavey Max 112 or 115?

I bought a "shipping Damaged" MAX115, but don't particularly care for its bass sound, which surprised me, as I have always liked the Peavey Bass amps -like the TNT I rented to play a wedding. This amp I can live with, but I accidentally depressed the "TT Boost" button without knowing while the...

What Was Your 1st All-Tube Amp?

My first attempt at a tube bass amp (around 1960, Nashville) was a 4x10 Magnatone open back combo...ended up (quickly) being a poor choice, but I wish I still had it for guitar! Ended up trading it in (At Hewgley's Music Shop, Nashville) for a Gibson "Titan 5" tube amp w/ two JBL D140 15"...

Is an SX Bass a worthy project bass?

I feel they are the best you can get for the price (see Rondo Music site)....I bought one, and was pretty surprised at how nice it really was. I put a set of Thomasik's Jazz Strings on it, and it was much sweeter than many "entry levels" I tried since. Beautiful action, played "like butter".

I need a practice amp, so....

My Peavey Microbass sounds VERY good, and was the smallest decent sounding bass amp I could trade down to. I went trough three Peaveys, each smaller, until I landed on this little, light gem. It holds up for our acoustic (except me) Parlor Pickin's, and is plenty loud for some lightweight...

    Put Fiberglass in Box?

Well, I'll be watching my local thrift store, and probably score enough new polyester padding for $5.00....or I might get one of those egg crate mattress pads (a clean, unused).

    Put Fiberglass in Box?

Will do! Thanks! Apparently this cabinet was never lined...does Fender not line their bass cabs?...or was this one of the many "economies" CBS enacted?:hmm:

    Put Fiberglass in Box?

I just traded into a early 80's fender Bassman Compact combo with a single 15". it had been retrofitted with an Altec 416, and sounds pretty good. but when I took the speaker out to better fit it...it had to have slots cut to allow it to sit nicely flush (had to front load it), I noticed the...

FS: Humphrey Modified Digitech Badder Bass Monkey

Talk about the "Humphrey Mods", seeing how this pedal is only $50.00 new (MF) in stock condition.

Anybody sold a bass to an overseas buyer?

Well, here is my FedEx International sob story. About three years ago I sold a failing strobe tuner to some guy in Canada. He didn't like it, and, although the item was clearly described as "not functioning" , and sold "as is", I folded and took it back, refunding him his money minus the...

Which Is A Better First Amp?

I have ended up with the Microbass, after "coming down" through a series of Peavey Bass Amps. I kept looking for a smaller and smaller, good sounding unit for home and living room "pickin' circles", mostly acoustic guys. I had pretty much settled on the Peavey Minx as as small as I could...

    Anyone try Elixir Bass Strings?

I had a Fender BG29 Acoustic Bass that came to life with Elixir's. It sounded terrible with the Fender recommended bronze wounds I tried first. It was the best sounding acoustic that I've owned with those Elixirs on it. Wish now that I had never sold it....but those Tacoma Thunderchiefs do...
