I've been using Elixirs.

Upgrading a Squier is like building a pool in your backyard. It's great while you have it, but when you go to sell it, you have to find someone who wants a pool and the price of the house is still a function of the other houses in the neighborhood.

I don't go to a lot of shows, but this is my exact complaint for the last 15 years or so. I've always attributed it to sound guys thinking a loud and deep bass drum is good. The bass gets swallowed up in those sub-low frequencies.

Did you ever find one? This was the first upgrade I ever did to my bass. Probably 1979. Long gone though when I traded in the bass. Not a lot of people remember them.

When this was stolen, it was apparently during the recording of Red Rose Speedway. Did Paul ever use a Hofner on any Wings' recordings? Or any solo recordings prior to Flowers in the Dirt in 1989?

Customization that Hofner did when repairing and refinishing the bass in the early 60's. (1963?)

I'd heard that story too, that it was missing from a closet or storage room in the studio. Looks like this happened during Wings' college tour of England.

IIRC, the only controls in the box when I did this were the EQ. EQ is all wired per manufacturer diagrams. If you look at the wiring diagram for the module, except for the EQ and power wiring, it has only a single input and single output. The volume and pickup blending is all done passively...

Check out the music. I think it's great. And, this is for a high school, BTW. I did run across a blog by a guitar player who posts about playing in a pit. And he did a song by song run down of mistakes in his music, what effects he used for certain songs, how he approached certain songs...

Anyone here have any experience playing Twelfth Night based on the Shakespeare play and written by Shaina Taub? Any particular advice or pointers you feel like sharing? Tips on tone for different songs? TIA!

If none of those applied, I would not use a preamp pedal. I'd go straight into my amp with a cable.

I've got to get me some of those thinner patch cables. I've got "high quality" ones that are thick and don't want to bend without twisting.

It would be the one in the upper right. Thanks for the pic confirming where I was thinking of putting the resistor and the idea of an adjustable trim pot. Now, I've got to try it!

My opinion of the Boss ODB-3 is basically the same as others here. For ME, it was too much. I couldn't get that smooth tube sound out of it. It was too "crunchy." So hard to describe sounds, isn't it? If you want a hard, distorted sound, then maybe it's for you.
