As someone who still uses an original HP1 it would be great to have a download that kept the generic speaker profile but just added the modern and vintage options.

Super midget and bb2 works for me. The sm gets most work, feed it with some decent power and push the bass a bit and it can go deep but a bit tighter than the bb or I would imagine the compact. The convenience factor of the midget is huge.

I sold my 800+ and replaced it with the 800D . Best move I ever made. I also have a Forte HP but the 800D gets all the work.

I noticed that the Warwick WL4 does not have the bass extender. Does it still have the narrower nut like the NYC and Japan models? Otherwise it might just as well be a standard with a mid boost switch.

So is the feeling that Warwick Sadowskys are developing their own character and moving away from a more traditional Sadowsky tone?

I believe that Barefaced drivers are built specifically for them by Eminence to Barefaced specs, after considerable development on Alex's part. I doubt that you could buy one "off the shelf" from Eminence or anyone else.

I suspect the 800D has not been out long enough nor produced in sufficient quantities yet to register.

Couldn't agree more. I still have a Forte HP which was my go to head but the 800D has now superseded it as first choice. The 800D is much more straightforward to use and its built in tone is what I was trying to achieve with the Bergantino. Not to knock the Forte as it is incredibly versatile...

Check to see where it was manufactured. Around 2006 Ampeg moved manufacture to Vietnam and there were issues with some of the "Vietnampeg" SVTs. I think after a couple of years they moved it to China which solved things. It should say on the back panel where it was made . If it was USA grab...
