What is the brightest of the CS split coil pickups? Im a big fan of the pickup in the AV ‘58. Hated the AV ‘63, too dark and thumpy.

My CS postmodern journeyman jazz precision has the cleanest, most clear P pickup I have ever heard. Always gets positive comments.

IIRC, the Postmodern has the FCS 62 pickup. YouTube has a comparison between the FCS 62 and Pure Vintage 63.

Thanks! That was easy. The 58 beats the 62 for sure. Confirmed I still don’t like the pure vintage 63 but it sounded better in the video than the couple AV 63s I had for a short time.

Just wondering if you, or anyone, notice a big difference between the cast bridges and the stamped-steel bridges?

I put a Hipshot on mine...only for simple slotting. Once I get my head around not requiring that, I slightly prefer the plate bridge..but wouldn't argue either way on any sound difference

I like both bridges for different reasons, but one clear advantage to the RSD bridge is its stability. Similar to the G&L design, it features raised side edges that prevent the saddles from shifting laterally. I haven’t weighed the RSD bridge, though I suspect it's heavier than the traditional bent plate version. I’ve also heard some mention difficulty achieving low action with the RSD bridge, though I’m not entirely sure why, as that hasn’t been my experience personally.

Oh, I knew the RSD bridge was heavier. I just didn’t know by how much. My Postmodern is also under 9 lbs but don’t recall the exact weight. Great playing and sounding basses IMO.

Edit: same strings, very similar wear. However, I did give the guy who I sold it to a set of La Bella Black Nylons. Sad to see he didn’t try them (or worst, tried them and threw them out!)
