    D'Addario Half Rounds Silk Color?

    They don't have any silk!

Which side of the stage do you prefer, Stage Left or Right?

Stage right for me. I'm left-handed but I play right-handed guitars, so I gravitate towards looking left when I want to see the drummer. Stage right just feels more comfortable for that reason

Musician stereotypes... ever play with any of these guys?

Oh God. Been there, done that. Yikes.

SansAmp VT Bass vs BDDI vs ParaDDI vs PSA

It's been a while since I owned it, but I think it was a pretty authentic bypass with no noticeable mid scoop.

SansAmp VT Bass vs BDDI vs ParaDDI vs PSA

I had a Programmable BDDI and returned it because it was too much of a fuss to get any mids out of it, and I had very little use for any more than one preset tone. I can see bands and bass styles where the tone of the BDDI would fit very well, but it wasn't for me. I now have a Para Driver DI...

Explain Wolfgang's Van Halen's Live Rig

I saw Van Halen in Toronto last week, and those cabs are definitely real as the techs played through them without PA support during a few quick soundchecks. As said before, Wolf had a mix of the new Fender tube amps and the EVH amps played through what looked like a few EVH 810s/stacked 410s and...

    Examples of P-Basses in Metal

Yup. I've seen Peter and Accept live, and he had the best live tone I've ever heard - hands down.

    Examples of P-Basses in Metal

Cool examples guys. I've noticed in the past little while that ESP P/J basses are becoming more and more popular, and this thread has already given lots of support to that. Alice Cooper's current bass player has one, Tommy Stinson in the modern Guns N' Roses, Frank Bello, plenty of others. Seems...

    Examples of P-Basses in Metal

Oh man, how could I forget Bob Daisley? I'm a mega-fan... he used a P-Bass on most of Diary of a Madman, and actually used a Hofner violin bass on "Flying High Again." Blizzard of Ozz was done with a Gibson EB-3 through one of Randy Rhoads' Marshal amps, also a great tone.

    Examples of P-Basses in Metal

Did a search and nothing quite as specific came up. I was just wondering if anybody could offer some cool examples of Precision basses being used in metal music? I'm talking any subgenre, I like the classic hard rock stuff, but I'm also curious to see if anybody has pulled off a P Bass in the...

An interesting approach to active EQ

I'd just like to share something that I just did while goofing around with my active EQ on my Ibanez ATK300. I've been GASing pretty hard for a P Bass, but my ATK is my baby and I thought I'd see what I can do to achieve a thick ATK humbucker tone combined with that P Bass bite. Heres a basic...

When did YOU first realize you wanted to play bass?

I started playing my cousin's guitar pretty frequently, and two of my friends (guitarist/singer and drummer) were forming a band but couldn't find a bass player. I told them I'd play a 2nd guitar as soon as I bought one of my own, and they told me I should buy a bass instead to help them out. I...

    Any Lefties beside's me?

I'm a lefty, but I play all of my instruments right-handed, including bass, guitar, drums, trumpet, and my right hand on the piano is much stronger than my left!

Great in the mix, awful on it's own

I intended this thread to educate people searching for "their tone" and to demonstrate that playing with others in a band mix is really the right way to set up your tone. So I would like to say thanks to you guys who have knowledge of this and are willing to share your thoughts! But now I...

    Nicest bassist you ever met?

You guys probably haven't heard of him but I've had a good chat with Par Sundstrom form Sabaton both times that they've played in Toronto (the most recent time being 3 days ago). I've been following them since they were first getting attention in Europe, and he is very grateful for that. I told...
