WON THE LOTTERY?!? Spend some money on a bass.

I can build you the bass of your dreams and leave several thousand of those dollars still in your pocket (unless you really want to spend it all). There's nothing quite like commissioning a custom build and I always make it special with regular progress photos, contact emails and phone calls...

    Grounding and shielding help

Great Advice. While I'm not a personal fan of star grounding and I do use a proprietary paint and process instead of foil, I support every other point you make and would not particularly exclude these. I adhere to most of your views as well and our instruments are dead silent. Ref Jonathan...

    Grounding and shielding help

Do you have a ground wire running from your strings (usually connecting to the bridge)?

Build 4 - headless fretless chambered 6 string

Ahhh, small world. Will be interesting to see what you finish up with. In the early days of development I had played around with socket head cap screws and blind nuts. There were limitations but the arrangement did work and as you're trying to do, I could get them at just about any hardware...

Build 4 - headless fretless chambered 6 string

Hi there, Tomm from Stonefield here. Looks like you've got an interesting project on the go with this build and reading your design considerations at the headstock I thought I'd chime in to let you know, if you're interested, that we do sell the hardware for the Tomm Stanley™ Tuning System...

Does anyone have any experience/thoughts on these stonefield basses?

Hi again jaybones. I had just replied to you; I think we must have both been writing at the same time. Yeah, you got it: they're made from a billet of aluminium and that gets machined into these plates at 1.2mm thick. It's a pretty expensive way to do it but I wanted them to be part of the...

Does anyone have any experience/thoughts on these stonefield basses?

Hi Jaybones; no, they've got the look of an inverted Strat jack but we have those made from billet aluminium and they're an integral part of the shielding system.

    Innovative bass technology

Hi Kirk. Not a derail at all with several good questions here. Re 'deeper' we have a couple of differences to most: We use a 2 inch (50mm) thick body. I believe that the thickness in the body brings more tonality to the instrument and point to instruments like the Les Paul guitar and PRS...

    Innovative bass technology

Hi there bwoodman, it's Tomm Stanley from Stonefield Music. I thought I'd take the opportunity to say hello and clarify any concerns that may be expressed in your post. I'll just move through one point at a time: Looks like a toy: I can't comment re a person's aesthetic preferences but our...
