The TRB1006 preamp most definitely hisses when the treble goes anywhere past flat. So does the midrange. The neck is not skinny but it is comfortably fast enough.

You really dont have to place a pickguard on the bass. All you need to do is cover the gaps with contoured lexan plastic trim painted black. I agree with the above, that yam looks odd with the stingray pickguard.
