high pass filters vs turning the bass down

Not to change the subject, but it seems odd that there aren't many amps that have a built in HPF before the pre. There may be some but none that I know of.

Metal "Pay To Play" as a way of life

You play metal because you have to; not to make money. This isn't an indictment of metal (I am a fan), but anyone who thinks they are going to make a living at it are in for a rude awakening.

Looking to buy a Vinyl player, any recommendation?

I was so close to pulling the trigger on one of those TEAC tables. They look beautiful and the reviews have been very good. Instead I decided to get a new sub and I am glad I went in that direction. All the sudden I am hearing details in basslines I could never hear before and it sounds like...

Saw the Wailers last night, NO FAMILY MAN BARRETT!!!

I saw Lee Perry I want to say 16 or 17 years ago and it was terrible. It might have been just what he was doing at the time but I hesitate to call it a music show. More performance art than anything else.

    Hartke HA2500 or HA3500?

I had a 1X15 combo with the 2000 head in it (200 watt version of the 2500). I had no problem keeping up with most drummers. Also, don't get to excited about the tube preamps in the HA line as they don't really do all that much. Is it different from the solid state pre? Yes, but not as much as...

    Ampeg stack?

Why not just buy an 8x10 and call it a day?

We REALLY need to stop supporting this company.

If only the workers in some way united and demanded better working conditions...

We REALLY need to stop supporting this company.

In a country based on the rule of law it should be. However, with the weakening of unions these types of contracts have been slowly popping up across the US. Texas has been attempting to get rid of a worker's ability to sue under worker's compensation laws. So while doing a job a worker is...

Ampeg SVT610HLF vs Mesa Std. Powerhouse--is Mesa worth the +$$$?

It may be, but you won't likely be getting an even ohm cab. Manufacturers special order drivers to get a 4 ohm, six driver speaker.

A glimpse into how much semi-big full time bands make?

Ding, ding, ding we have a winner! I used to really be into heavy music. Until recently I was even in a metal-ish band. Life events have made it very difficult to listen to music with this sort of intensity anymore (though this particular band is not my cup of tea). I also was a music...

Avatar Cabs???? Just looked at the website...

Which drivers were in the Avatar you played? Loaded with Faitals I would put it above the GK. For sound at least, I would imagine the construction of the GK is probably superior.

Thoughts on the Avatar SPECIAL B410 Faital Neo GB 10′s

Agreed, cab GAS is not a thing I am currently experiencing nor do I foresee it being much of an issue. Unless of course I were to get a second Avatar 2X12;)

Thoughts on the Avatar SPECIAL B410 Faital Neo GB 10′s

I seem to remember the GK being slightly scooped. Don't see how it is worth more than the Avatar. Also, this is just a person thing but I really don't care for the look of the new GK cabs. I was actually all set to buy a GK cab before they changed the design. I stuck with my Peavey 2x15 until I...

TH350 vs. MB500 (warning, distortion content)

Can the TH do distorted tones in-between the two you posted (the second doesn't sound entirely clean)? I have liked the TH when I have played it but I also have never taken it to that level of distortion. That distortion sounds far too compressed for me. Sort of like a crappy stompbox. I like...

Subway D-800 not sure if I'm digging it? any other sugestions for class D amps that give you grit?

To me that one is a pretty bad example. The gas lamps are one of the things that make the French Quarter magic. Newest isn't always best.
