I actually dont have my mids too high there. Ill take another vid with the mids really boosted and it sounds a lot like old rush. But you can hear the attack alone goes a long way.

Yeah sure, ill respond 12 years later. Its both his aggressive attack on the strings, hitting them into the frets, and EQ is critical. Gotta boost those mids up. On its own in an amp it can sound muffled to some people, but this is how he cuts through the mix like a pick player does.

Rosewood is an option on the mod shop. I prefer maple though.

We know. Ill be the first to admit the service kinda stinks. $2000 just to basically be able to choose your own color. Is what it is. Its a ripoff but if someone REALLY wants a maple board with a CAR body, i mean you dont have a choice if you are partial to fender.

The flat black guard looks a little flat for me on a flat color like CAR. I have this cheap mexican flame maple jazz with the flat black guard bc the blue is so busy. So i like to balance things that way. And really the only reason i was leaning towards the black pearl as opposed to white is...

The mod shop is not the custom shop. A team built custom shop j bazz is gonna run you at least 5 grand. A masterbuilt one will cost at least 7-8 grand. Mod shop j basses are usually around 2 grand, a little less than their ultra line so they are reasonable. You have some neck and pickup...

You cant do that with the mod shop. You have to choose a pickguard. You would have to use the far more expensive custom shop to get that. Not worth it imo

Well id imagine these are painted underneath so yeah i could remove it and see how it looks. But yeah ive seen some jazz basses without it.

After checking for so long im resigned to them just never going to add it again. Yeah sure i could put a warmouth neck on it but thats like another $800.

Ha i know and i have checked darn near everyday for the past 6 months. They really are getting stingy with the options. All theyve done in 6 months to my knowledge is add a roasted neck option which looks weird to me.

Yeah of course its my decision in the end. Just asking some opinions since i dont think ive ever seen this combo before.
