Thanks! That's definitely it. I suspected it had a shorter scale...turns out to be a medium scale (30"). The tone is percussive with a distinctive "plonk" to it that I don't think I could get with my P or my J. It also sounds like he's using a pick.

Still very happy with mine. One thing I wonder about is how the nitro body and poly neck will age together. Will the neck stay young while the body wears into old age? (like Hugh Hefner and his recent wives...) I guess we'll see, but for now it's a pretty cool bass.

I'm still pretty crazy about my blue CV P. I wound up putting flats on it, first Chromes and now Labellas. Rewired it with better pots and cloth wire which of course made no practical difference, but it's nice knowing they're in there. It's just a really good bass. Writing about it right...
