SRT80, do you think that neck would fit on a VM Telebass body?

I can't stand the mega-pale neck...

If you'd like, remove the neck and measure and I will get you the measurements on mine.

I would assume it would fit and I was actually to the point where I was gonna buy a VM TB bass to do the neck swap. I think the tinted neck would look much better...in my opinion.

But I was told this neck wouldn't fit a Dirnt body and I figured tele neck/squared heel, it would work. But was told it won't work. So I can't really say yes or no.

But I really like the CV 50s and don't really see the need in the TB bass. Unless I found a body for a reasonable price.

Send reliablefender a message on ebay and see what they think. They have both the Squier TB body and CV 50s neck. Ask if it would work. If they say yes, than it should.

A MIA is 41.3mm and a CV P is 42mm. Less than 1mm difference.

Yes, I just measured my CV P and it's 42mm.

According to Google, nut width for modern Precision basses depending on model is 41.3mm, 42mm, or 44.5mm. I don't know which is the "right" number.

Well, hello there fellow CV owners! Give me a number plz! Today I became an owner of super sweet 60's P in Fiesta Red! Was going to a shop to pick up a Jazz, but went out with a P, because it was the best P I've EVER played! Jazz had a lack of low-end and low-mid, P sounded much richer and gnarlier! I don't have money for pickup upgrade for Jazz, so I took P! Don't know why, but for my bass practice(6 years) I've never owned a Jazz. Guess this would be the day, but instead of in I realized that I'm a P guy My first bass was a MIJ Fender Precision 1984, after that I owned Ibanez, MM Sterling and MM Stingray. In every bass I had after P I missed that generic growl that Precision has...Finally, today I found it again!
I bought it on Special price for $319 CAD! Pretty awesome deal for such a great quality! It really blows MIMs in quality and some MIA I've tried in sound! And my wife really likes Fiesta Red color! Haha! Feel like Pino!

Yes, I just measured my CV P and it's 42mm.

Its sounds to me you aren't sure then ;-)

It does of course vary depending on the model but i would say the current modern (as in not vintage based) neck is 41.3.

I just thought it was an interesting choice. Given that the necks are also thinner front to back, maybe the wider nut compensates for that and the mass remains relatively equal? I dunno?

Well, no longer gonna do the "Fender" makeover to my Squier CV 50s. I ended up pickin' up a Fender 51 RI for a pretty good deal.

I'm still gonna have the body converted to string through though since I already have the bridge/body ferrules. But not gonna do the "relic" or use the Fender decal.

No, I think Dave is right -- you're only talking about 0.7mm difference in width (versus an MIA). That seems like too little to matter.

Sorry guys. Ive been on my iPhone all weekend and got posts and poster's mixed up.

My comment was about the CV neck being 2mm larger than the standard P neck, i wasn't questioning the CV P necks width as i too have measured mine when i first got it and yes, spot on 42mm.

My membership in this club remains constant; have traded CV50's P for CV60's J at GC event, after the P had already paid for itself in gigs. All of my gigs are "J,"whether that means my new J, my G&L JB2 or my VM Jaguar.

When I get Nordys for the G&L, I will migrate the Quarter Pounders over to the Squier, which was intonated wonderfully, despite being on the GC floor. All of the protective wrapping was on it, and its' "born on" date is 12/27/10, per the QC sticker. Very impressive "beater" axe for gigs. I'll use it for the supper clubs; the Jag for the biker bars, the G&L for casinos, and occasionally, my 'wick LTD comes out to play.

Life is good.

Yea, I thought my spare tinted Squier CV 50s neck would have looked sweet on a sunburst dirnt body. I think I might have a local interested in the neck. I decided to keep my original neck and gonna sale the nicer one with the grain pattern.

Since I picked up a Fender 51 RI for a pretty good deal, gonna try it and my CV 50s and see which one I want to keep. If I think the Squier is just as good, will probably keep it and sale the '51.

I have no beef with my CV60s--I love the pup, the pots are fine and the neck is great. It's become my favorite axe and my son and all his garage rock pals are tight on it. The CV50s is cool, but not as mojo ready. I'm definitely planning to mod it (anyone have experience with the Seymour Duncan Bassline p-bass pup?

Fiesta Red took awhile to grow on me as well, but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it.

My understanding is that the Fiesta Red was the first non-sunburst color Fender introduced. It does kinda grow on you.

How did you relic it?

I just wanted to put off the shiny look of the bass and I used this :

With a little bit of water and soap and a little bit of courage lol !

And then I made some scratches and dings, scratching the bass on the floor and making dings with that :

Just think about doing this slowly and with a little inspiration and looking at some photos of relic'd basses found on the internet.

The most difficult part of the job is to stop before going to far ! lol !
