But I had a question. I love the look of the bridge cover on old Fenders, but I'm partial to the Jazz cover that has the F on it. I've done a little research and it seems like the HM bridges on the CV series may take up more space or something? Essentially, if I bought a 60s P bass CV, would a lettered Jazz bridge cover (like Invalid Link Removed) fit?

Please don't put a jazz bridge cover on a p bass. Please.

Well, I just bought the CV 60s P and the CV 60s Jazz and I'm very happy with both. I've owned one of each before so I knew what to expect.

Great basses. I got them so I wouldn't have to risk anything happening to my 1973 Fender Precision or my 1966 Fender Jazz on the road or at gigs.

I'll post some pics soon and maybe even do a short comparison with my vintage Fenders.

Sounds like a pretty nice stable of Fenders. I'd love to see a comparison. Ed Friedland did a squier/fender shoot-out on most of the CVs awhile back: ‪Squier Classic Vibe Basses‬‏ - YouTube

Here is my less than a day old Fiesta Red P.
I must admit that I like the tort color combo so will keep it stock.
I do plan on putting on a set of either XL chromes or Fender flats - any thoughts on that?

Lol, man it's your bass, do what you want.

Although the idea behind this series is to make a high quality but inexpensive instrument that looks like an NOS guitar or bass from that time period. When you start modding them to look like something else then you kinda defeat the purpose.

But that's just my opinion. You have to decide what you want to do. But remember, screws like tattoos are forever.

For anyone interested in kinda hearing/seeing the Matt Freeman CV P in action, click here!

Not by any means a perfect performance, but it wasn't a bad recording for a standard digital camera ((with the exception of the two random low end cuts in the late middle)). Equipment used was my Freeman, EHX bass big muff, and my beloved Fender Rumble 350, which has been holding it's own quite nicely against two tube halfstack weilding guitarists and a decently heavy handed drummer. I'm not sure if the Freeman will be seeing any mods, probably a gold anodized pickguard at some point, along with bridge/pickup covers ((because I think that would be sexy)). I'm really on the fence about dropping a quarter-pounder in there though, it's what I'd normally do, but the stock electronics just sound so friggin good. :(

I wouldn't drop the quarter pounders personally, I had those on my previous P/J and I much prefer the stock CV P pup! Well, that's just me.. It just sounds more smooth, warm and vintagey to me.

Yeah, I like to scoop my mids a bit and lean them towards the high frequencies, with a bit of a bass boost and a solid treble boost. Whenever I used QPs in the past I'd have to adjust my tone ((into something I personally didn't like)) in order to cut through the mix. Probably due to their inherent scoop. I don't have that problem with the stock electronics. It's my tone on and off the stage. :)


And thanks! We jussst got a 12 passenger van to hit the road with next summer, so if we end up with a show date near you come check us out!

Im seriously thinking of getting the White MF but as im not a lover of P necks (im really trying hard to get on with them) i might start off with the CV Jazz neck thats on my CV P at the moment.

If you do, be sure to let me (I mean us) know if you plan to sell the MF neck. :)

Thanks. I'm pretty sure the MF neck has the same dimensions as the CVP neck and I do find that neck to be comfortable, it's just that I find CV Jazz neck to be nicer.
Either are great though as I love those vintage frets.

Oh and just a heads up, I'm in the UK. To be honest I love the look of the
maple neck so I wouldn't sell it, I would force myself to play it.

The biggest issue is what colour to get. I love the white but think the black wod fit in more.
