    Is NCD a thing?

The BH250 head arrived today, it's mad busy at the moment so I've only had a quick 10 minute try out but it's a great sounding combination so far - more controlled and less boomy than the 1x15, not sure how else to describe it. I like. Now we just need to get some gigs booked... edit: The guy...

    Is NCD a thing?

New Cab Day, I mean. New to me, anyway. I've been playing through an old Peavey TNT115 since I started but I've always liked the punchier sound of the 4x10 cab at the rehearsal studio we use. I spotted this at Cash Converters (a bit like a pawnshop), they were asking £50. I couldn't get my...

What is your least played bass?

That is lovely. My least played is also a fretless (Squier VM fretless Jazz), I really wanted to get competent on fretless but haven't been able to put the time in practising. I'll get to it at some point.

    Offspring’s NBD

Yep, he's been really focused and done well to save for it. :D That Peavey was already old when I bought it about 20 years ago (NB I have one year's experience twenty times over, not 20 years experience). Heavy but seemingly indestructible! Note also the sought-after high-end Behringer...

    Offspring’s NBD

My son finally got the Dingwall Combustion Nolly signature he’s been wanting (and saving for) for ages. It’s a fantastic instrument, I might even get to try it out at some point!

    No open strings?

I love Joy Division and know exactly what you mean about She’s Lost Control. However… We play Alright Now and I have a suspicion I’m playing the break wrong, starting with an A on the 7th fret of the D string. Do you play an open A? I’m gonna try it and report back. Thanks for the tip.

    Fender Basses made in Mexico

My 1996 MiM precision has the hole, the Indonesian squier fretless jazz (no pickguard) which I bought a few years ago doesn’t. Now I want to take the PG off my recently acquired Sire P7 to see if there’s a smuggling compartment under there.

    Sire Bass Club!

Hi all, I have one incoming! I had a trip out to a few music stores with my son yesterday, he's after a fan-fret bass. Guitar Guitar (Birmingham, UK) had Ibanez fan-frets but he's got his heart set on a Dingwall. Aaaannnyyway, I tried a (lightly) used P7 which I loved, I've just bought it on...

    Two Bassists in a band

I just saw a picture of A Certain Ratio playing last night, three basses on stage but I don’t know if they were deployed simultaneously…

    Two Bassists in a band

Several posters have mentioned Peter Hook and The Light, where his son Jack takes over in bass while Hooky is singing. However Hooky also had a short lived project called Freebass which (clue is in the name) featured three bassists - hooky, Andy Rourke (The Smiths) and Mani Mountfield (The Stone...

    Multi-scale five-string bass

Amazing work, and a fantastic looking (and no doubt sounding) bass!

    Thundercat cover

Very nice, it's the Combustion he's been talking about. Yes, we live near Birmingham (UK, not Alabama) which has a few good shops - Guitar Guitar and PMT, maybe a few others. We're off for a visit on Friday but I suspect it will a window shopping expedition at the moment!
