    Ampeg Rocket B100R

    Great amp for gigging... if you're cranking it up, though, you might want to consider leaving the "ultra low" button off—it can get a little woofy. I love the hell out of mine. The old-school tone is a perfect match for fretless.

    Do you ever run two of them, 6jase5? I have one (bought from a TBer a few months back), and I love it. Wondering if a second one might be worth looking into, just 'cause. If you run two, do you split cable before the input, or do you use some fancy A+B box?

    Howdy, all: I'm looking to find a competent DB luthier/repair person in my neck of the woods—I live in southwestern VT, about an hour's drive from Albany, NY. Does anyone here have a recommendation for me? I tried a TB search, but came up with nothing useful... sorry if this is well-trod...

    ampeg ba115

    Really, it's a fairly loud SS 100W, and capable of kicking out some decent bottom end. I liked mine a lot... and ultimately sold it to fund a B100R purchase for more of an old-school tone.

    Have you tried out the Bass Big Muff Pi by Electro-Harmonix? Not super expensive at all, and has three modes: normal distortion, bass-boosted heavier distortion, or mixed (my favorite)—that mode mixes your dry bass signal with the distortion effect, so you get the clear bottom AND the grind...
