Might have found my stolen bass-HELP!

From the UK, really hope this turns out positively for you. The insufferable waiting!

    Sanding a bass

Best of luck with this project. Never done sanding myself but love the ethos of taking an instrument and making it unique to you. Will say this though: take your time :)

What's the dumbest thing a non-musician has ever said to you?

Sound guy: "what's headroom?" Or Crowd member after gig: "why did you and the drummer keep looking at each other?" I can forgive ignorance, it ain't they're fault for not knowing something they have no reason to. Arrogance on the other hand grinds me...!

    The GHS Thread

UK based so these are not as common in music shops as our brit made rotos. I wanted a smooth feeling string with less thud than flats and after a bit of research decided to try Some ghs pressure wounds. Well they've arrived and I'm very happy so far. Gonna buy another set for when it comes to...

    FUNK FLATWOUND STRINGS

I use 9050s. Fantastic string for that style of music on a p-bass. I know, having used them on my cheap squire p-bass for this same type of band. I'll agree with other posters in saying they're bright for flats but after a short while they die off just enough to sound great with a nice balance...

    Flats for my Pbass?

I've had Fender 9050s on my squire p-bass for a while now and love them. Fresh outta the box they're as bright as any roundwound string I've used and feel great on the fingers. After a week or so they mellowed to a wonderful tone without loosing too much high end sparkle.

    Light stack with enough height

Those tc electronic rigs are very light and when arranged as pictured provide good hight. Sound nice too. :)

    Favorite bass line to play?

Stevie wonder - I wish. That line is that song. Crowds love it!

Lightweight cabs that are similar to Bergantino HD

I wouldn't know about the tone of what you presently have, but I use tc electronic and my dad uses markbass. Both have nice versatile tones and are very lightweight. Just try before you buy I'd say.

    MIM P-Bass, Natural Refinish???

You can always simply remove the neck to get a look at the body wood in the neck joint. No experimental sanding required :)

    Good thread by the way!

Learning songs by ear or by note...

I think how you do it depends largely on how much you already know in terms of theory. I know practically none (EADG, that's about it) so when Victor Wooten says "listening is the most important part of music" I'd agree. Listen to the song and base what you play on instinct. The trick is knowing...

Cheap but Loud amp for rehearsals

Thanks for the help guys, the input means a lot. Older second hand peavey stuff looks like way to go. Havn't used any of their gear stuff in the past, but from what im hearing it should be more than enough. Like I said, im on a budget and my notion of hartke gear is that it is too...
