I have tried that, but the pickups made a racket when the strings hit them. I can only avoid this by keeping the pickups low enough.

Since I posted this, I've discovered EVERY bass I've had the chance to compare (side by side) has louder pups than my Mikro! Now it's working on my mind. I'm considering buying new pups, but I don't really know what to consider. I don't want to spend more on pups than I have tied up in the bass...

At a jam session last weekend, a buddy showed up with his Music Man bass in tow. When he plugged into my amp, he was WAY LOUDER than my bass had been. I mean, had to cut the amp down by about 2/3rds! Are my pups that weak? I bet he had active pups, but still...

Just bumping this thread yet again. I just bought one of these heads used, should arrive here in 5 days. I'm curious about any long term problems! Seems Peavey threw any support towards the MiniMega. I'm curious about why.

Well, yeah when I pick a note thru the PF500, the speaker sounds gaseous. But when I substitute another amp for the PF500, the speaker sounds great. So I guess the Ampeg makes my speaker sound "farty"..

I'm considering going to consideranly heavier strings, attempting to relieve some of the B string's floppiness. I'm looking at stainless flatwounds 55-135. Will the neck hold these strings tuned BEADG? Anyone tried it?

I would have thought Tele-style wiring would be popular on bass. But NO! Why not? I'd like to try it, but have no clue for values on pots or capacitors (2 jazz-type pups). Any suggestions?
