Hal FUNK basses? stumbled upon this...

This is a real mystery to me. He's been on Facebook for a few years now. He makes some pretty bold statements on his designs, which seem come and go. At times he sounds as though he is the new messiah of the bass building world. When asked about cost or when/where they will be available...

Has Leo Quan gone out of business?

Yup you are correct. They still sell tons of them to instrument manufacturers, mostly Fender, particularly for the Geddy Jazz bass. I guess they prefer the OEM business to selling onesies and twosies to us poor working stiffs. They might let a few out to parts distributors down the road but I...

Ibanez Studio bass St-924 from 1981

These Ibanez basses are killer. I own a '79 Roadster and '81 Musician - both 924s. I have never seen or played a Studio but based on my experience with these I'm sure it is awesome and I know you will enjoy it. As an aside, Andy at Repro Guitar parts does amazing work on the knobs. He has made...

Just bought a 1982 Ibanez Musician.

I would never part with my old-timers! Enjoy your MC-924, there isn't an instrument out there for $450 that comes close to it IMHO

    Ibanez Basses and Fender Basses

Like most players I dig the sound of Fenders (I own two, one of them is a fretless) but I prefer the vintage Ibanez basses...I own an '81 Musician MC-924 and a '79 Roadster RS-924. I also owned an ATK-300 and I liked it a lot and regret selling that one off. I've never tried a BTB and people...

    Washburn Taurus 24

Ron I own a T24 - I bought it used at Music Go Round for less than $200.00. I really do dig this bass and I have owned US and MIM P and Jazz basses previously. Fit and Finish is beautiful, it is comfortable to play (albeit a bit heavy) and the Washburn ABT pickups and volume/EQ design are as...

what kind of Epiphone is this?

I have one of these. Yes it is an Epiphone Accu-bass from the early nineties. The S/N was on a sticker below the tuning machines on the back of the headstock. awhile back I turned it into a bit of a project bass and replaced the mediocre stock pups with Seymour Duncan quarter-pounders and a...

NBD. Epiphone Korina Explorer LTD content.

Get a Coffin bass case and take out the lower storage lid and walls - just two screws gets it out. The Epi will then fit perfectly.

Opinions on the Stagg BC300 Fretless.

I once owned a sweet fretless P-bass and sold it like the true jackass that I am. A couple of years ago I got the itch to own another fretless but I didn't want too much $$$ as it would be used only occasionally. So I came upon the Stagg, which has a very limited dealer community in the USA, so...

Jaydee/Ibanez-style 80s bass with unusual headstock

    Ibanez ATK300...input please?

I own an ATK300. The neck is slightly wider and thicker than a fender P - closer to a EB Music Man. Hope this helps

New strings for my ATK, help!

I stuck with the Elixir Nanoweb mediums for quite some time on my ATK even if they need a shave after a few weeks of steady playing. Lately I like Cleartones also. Keep the coil toggle switch full up also - that seems to tame the top end slightly. Hope this helps.

    The Official Epiphone Accu-Bass Club

I took my mid-90's Accu Bass and gutted everything but the tuning machines and neck plate. I put in Seymour Duncan 1/4 pounders, all new pots, wiring and jack, and replaced the stock bridge with a Leo Quann Bad Ass II. Yeah, I know it had a string through body but the Bad Ass II, which is NOT...

Need help on a new bass (long post)

Thanks Herbie - Although, improvements aside, it doesn't come close to some of the great instruments discussed in your thread. Good luck with the active Jazz! I had some interest in that very bass a couple years back but no GC or Daddy's Junkie Music outlets (or anybody else) ever had it in...

Need help on a new bass (long post)

Here are a couple of OK (not great) pix of my Accu-Bass- Everything went except the tuning machines, strap pegs and neck plate - the body is string-through but the Badass II isn't...But I don't care because this bridge adds more sustain anyway. It is a mid-nineties Accu-bass - I'm not familiar...
