New strings for my ATK, help!

Hey all,

I've been using EB strings on my ATK for a while (as per the local music shop owner's reccomendation), and they're just TOO bright for my liking...

Does anyone have any good thoughts on strings for an ATK that will help bring out the growlyness of it? I'm thinking DR's, but i string my P/J with them, and i'd like to avoid overlapping tones... but i admit, i don't know if strings are that much of a factor when it comes to the that.

I just threw some DR Lo-Riders on my ATK 750, and oh my God....I'm never going back. I bought a pack of Prosteels today, too, but they may never see the light of day depending on how well these DR's hold out. I'd say string it with the DR's... I think they're great strings to throw on an ATK.

Thanks guys!

I think i will try out some DRs.

I USE to use GHS Boomes exclusively... but i would constantly break the strings. In one three-week tour i broke 3 E strings 1 A string and 1 G string. Since then i haven't really given them much thought...

I HAVE transitioned from a 100% pick player to a more 75% Finger/25% Pick style... so maybe i'll try them out again :D

Thanks for the tips!

I stuck with the Elixir Nanoweb mediums for quite some time on my ATK even if they need a shave after a few weeks of steady playing. Lately I like Cleartones also. Keep the coil toggle switch full up also - that seems to tame the top end slightly. Hope this helps.

The ATK I had was strung with DR's and Chromes at seperate times. I've come to very much prefer rounds, but the Chromes didn't sound too bad. The DR's (not sure which type) were pretty bright, IIRC, but I could EQ out some of that brightness if I wanted. That things was awesome for Tool/ Duff tones!
