Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

I'm still keen, if there's a list or whatever I am ready to commit money to this.

It's not a real list, but you know you want it! So just keep some money around. hahaha

I know this is a Future Impact thread but I thought this info may be helpful to players here considering the Boss SY-300. FYI, the Boss SY-300 cannot hold a candle to the Akai Deep Impact IMO. So now I am even more so eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Future Impact!!! Here is my experience with the SY-300....

So I received the Boss SY-300 from Zzsounds yesterday. I am disappointed. Basically I am disappointed in the sounds but especially disappointed that there are no PCM sounds. I guess I should have researched it more thorough and I would have found this out before I purchased it. Now obviously the following is just my opinion so FWIW, some background on me and my journey......

My Deep Impact died about two years ago, I sold my Korg G5 pedal, so now I'm using the Zoom MS60b for synth sounds. It's passable for live but obviously I would like to improve on it. So for the sounds I can't cover with the pedal, I use a Korg R3 keyboard instead. I'm tired of playing my keys and would love to get rid of it some day. Mind you I have been on this quest for 20 years now. I've used a Peavey Midi bass over the years, the hex pickups, etc, but was never really happy with any of them. I think the only pedals I was happy with was my Akai DI and Korg G5. But I digress.

The SY-300 tracked well with some sounds and with others it was meh. If you are looking for textural sounds, atherial, trippy, etc, then this may be the pedal for you. I'm looking for fat bass synth tones. I figured with the multiple oscillators I could achieve this with the sy-300. I was able to program some fat bass tones but I just didn't like the actual tone of the unit. It sounds and feels very artificial to me, not analog synthy at all. Perhaps I just don't like the COSM technology. I think my Akai DI sounded better than this pedal does with multiple oscillators.

I guess it really depends on what you are looking to cover synth wise with the pedal. Also, I was able to use just the effects (chorus, compressor, etc), without the synth tone and they sounded ok and passable for live, but again still a bit too digital for my taste. Perhaps if I spent more time programming it I could get closer to what I'm looking for, but for $700, I want to be "WOWED".... And I truly wasn't. FYI, I'm not a newbie to synth programming (I program all of the sounds in my Korg R3). Also, they really should do a better job on the factory patches too. It seemed to me that there were too many sample and hold patches, sequenced, arpegiated, etc, again not my thing but perhaps to what others here are looking for.

The pedal is very solid, buttons feel good, but the pedal does have some weight to it. But the weight makes sense considering what it is capable of doing. The software was easy to get around and laid out pretty well too.

I think for me it just came down to the cosm tones, and me just not digging them. Even though some people stated the pedal sounds "80's", I would have to disagree... or maybe I can agree with "cheesey 80's". It definitely is not a DX7 or a Juno. Man I would love PCM or FM tones in a pedal. One can only wish....

Oh well, I've already received my rma and it is packed and ready to return to Zzsounds. I guess I will still be playing my Korg R3 and Zoom MS60b for now..... Until the Future Impact touches down on Earth! I already have a space reserved for it on my pedal board. Bwaaaa Aaaah Aaaaah Aaaaah!!!!!!

Ok, so after reading maisbass' review in the SY-300 thread AND seeing the progress in this thread (I haven't been following this for a few months), I'm in. I still will probably check out the Boss unit, but the proposed functionality/flexibility of the Future Impact is too great to ignore...

As you stated, you still should probably check the Boss unit out if you're into synth tones. It has a lot of potential and may be what you are looking for, it just wasn't for me. I don't want to make it sound that the Boss unit isn't good, it just wasn't for me.

The last quote, the star child from the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey was my artistic license. But it looks like he did delete his post about his fake tracking number. And somehow my post directly after that was deleted as well. I didn't delete it... Maybe a mod did?

Edit - For clarity my deleted post simply was: "You again?"

listen man, in no way did i troll this thread. This pedal barely exists at this point. Im VERY excited to see this pedal come to fruition. Ive never been so jazzed about a pedal since the original deep impact. No matter what your opinion is of my small attempt at a little humor (as unfunny as it may be to you) it was not trolling, nor was that my intention. Perhaps dont take everything so seriously is the only advice I could offer or if youre really upset by it you can definitely PM me to discuss. TB is awesome and there are a lot of good people here (A LOT in this thread) and Im certainly not trying to make anyone upset.

I'm not upset. But when I see you post I immediately assume you might be unreliable or dishonest.

Whether or not you call it trolling, it was untrue and pointless. It just wasn't funny (hey you guys, I totally saw a bird over there! MADE YOU LOOK!) and crowds the thread with nonsense. If you're really excited about the pedal, that is an odd reaction.

you lacked substance. it may have been 'funny for you', just like the BOY who cried wolf thought it was humorous when all the townsfolk ran over to help him....... but no one, dear boy, thought you saying you had the this pedal was funny.

if it was, all in the act of fun, a simple J/K or some indication saying you were having fun with it would've ended it, but after you first non-whimsical post, it did rile people up wondering if it was true and many of us called you out to post pics, but you disappeared - indicating that your post was complete utter nonsense and displayed how unreliable and dishonest your information was. so if you think it was 'humorous', go ahead and continue to cry wolf in TB and think people won't be annoyed by it.

I am still in for this pedal and waiting and waiting.

Anyone else already laboring over how they'll fit the Future Impact on their already crowded board? Even without consideration for this pedal, I am struggling to fit everything I want, and have, on my PT-1. And I don't really want a bigger board. Well, maybe the FI will make it easier to send a pedal or two packing. It's just, I've never been good at that part...

get a Nano just for it

I have a Digitech Bass Synth Wah, a Behringer BSY600, and true-bypass 1590A-sized looper (Loopmaster I think) that are all in a cluster that will be replaced, pending this thing's existence and price feasibility.
