Carryon by Blackstar Mini-bass

I liked the Fernandes Nomad Bass with its speaker. I wonder if it could be improved upon with today's technology.

I use an Ibanez EHB1000S for traveling. I like that it is substantial enough that I could actually use it “for real,” yet it fits in a guitar gig bag, which means I can carry it on most planes. I had to gate check it once, but the thing is such a tank I didn’t even worry about it (and it was fine). Not really a fan of extra tiny basses.

I love all things mini. Would like to know more about the strings.
+1.
Range of gauges is the same as the D'Addario guitar-scale strings (37-90), but those wouldn't be heard through a P-bass pickup (neither the nylon core nor the bronze wrap are ferromagnetic). Like the upcoming (winter NAMM-announced) Kala solid-bodies, this Ministar Carry-on Mini Bass needs some sort of mag-friendly string.

I bought the Blackstar carry-on bass online, without playing it, as I had a business trip and I wanted to take a bass with me to practice.

It's a pretty good bass overall, but I have a couple of issues with it:

My main issue with it is that it's heavy @ 3kg - I have a 30.5" short scale bass that weighs less. The body wood is heavy, and weight is an issue if you're traveling.

The nut on mine wasn't glued in place, so it fell off when I detuned the strings. Easily fixed though.

Talking of strings, the ones supplied are pretty heavy gauge, so I want to swap them but I don't know where to get one that fit.

Does anyone know what string options there are for a 23.46" bass?

So gauges are not 37-90 as stated in the product page? Have you got any way to measure them? It would be useful to know, both for forum posterity and to give you suggestions.

Oh: any pictures you can share? :)
