Mark Bass CMD102P- cutting out and tweeter gone freq nasty

Hoping for some advice on two questions: 1. Playing live the other night with my Mark Bass CMD102P combo (and 8OHM 4 x 10 cab) the other night at an outdoor show and the sound cut out completely. The blue power lamp remained lit and the signal to the line-out jack uninterrupted (the bass...

Give me a reason to Buy a VT Bass

I have a Sansamp BDDI (the three switch programmable type) and was using it happily... then the VT came out with all the hoopla, so I got one as well... Never use it; I am back with the BDDI, which suits my ears much more so. That said, Tech21 make great products.

Thinking about going on a diet... (micro amp content!)

Hey man, I just off loaded my heavy rig (an Ampeg SVT and quad!) and recently got myself a Mark Bass combo (the 2 x 10" CMD210P)... and my back is loving me right now. I have just today paid for another quad (Mark Bass) but it is much lighter than my previous box. The technology has caught up...

Sold the Ampeg today, mixed feelings...

Waved goodbye to my Ampeg head and cab today (SVT3 PRO and 410HLF)... I hope the young guy who bought it feels as good as I did when I first plugged in to 'my Ampeg rig' :bassist: The Ampeg pedigree certainly packs a punch. I won't miss carting the cabinet up three flights of stairs...

Flying/travelling on planes with an electric bass

Thanks to those who have posted... but... this is a legitimate question, about bass, posed in Talkbass... and yet I can't seem to get much help here. Yes, I have used the 'search' function, with limited success; so, I posted this hoping for practical feedback from bassists (the very reason...

Flying/travelling on planes with an electric bass

(I did search, and found some helpful stuff, but here I go anyways... :D) Is there a best way to prepare a bass for travel on a plane? (I fly tomorrow) Strings- on, off, loosened, normal? Latches- taped up, locked/unlocked/whatever, they'll just break em anyway Case- extra...

Songs an 80's cover band should NEVER play?

Is this a Christian praise and worship cover band we are talking about? If so, the 'Number of the Beast' probably aint a great choice... Slight conflict of interest

Who was the most famous cat you played with

Many moons ago I did a studio session on bass; I hadn't met any of the other musos beforehand and when I did, they were all like me i.e. nobodies... Then the drummer walked in... Virgil Donati, who has played drums for Steve Vai, Tony MacAlpine, etc, etc. Check him out playing with Billy...

What is the point of defeating the pre-amp?

Does anyone prefer this method of preamp/amp management? I am running an SVT-3 Pro, with a Sansamp BDDI... I have tried running the BDDI into the effects loop to defeat the pre-amp (a method that is suggested in the Sansamp manual) ... As far as I can tell, without experimenting too...

Whys is Fieldy so disrespected on TB????

Hey, you guys should stop dissing Fieldy. He is actually an awesome player. I saw his instructional DVD recently; jaw-dropping command of the fretboard, tasteful and restrained lines that gave 'space' to the backing music of the jazz ensemble accompanying him. He spoke thoughtfully about what...

Classic, jurassic and tragic headstock design

For me, it is about the shape (organic= Fender, skewed= Ric, wrong somehow= Warwick :ninja:) ... but it is ALSO about the design of the logo. Again, Fender just seemed to have got it right, as did Musicman (yes, I own one of each)... Gibson's decal is pretty cool... others: Warwick= ho-hum...

    Any Australian fellas on TB?

The death toll (as of 8pm Wednesday) is officially 135. I can say this as I work in the media and we are tracking it. The worst peacetime disaster in our history. The pictures coming through our photo agencies are heartbreaking; car bodies containing incinerated people who were trying to...

Classic, jurassic and tragic headstock design

I'd go as far as saying the Fender headstock shape is up there with the all-time classics of American design. I love my Fender... and Musicman... I would say that I'd even refuse to buy a bass, based on whether I liked the aesthetics of the headstock :hiding: which makes me question...

I don't think I like my new head

Yo Josh, the amp setup sounds fine... what bass you playing? That has a lot to do with it... a new set of roundwound strings with brighten up your tone. I agree with TLW, the Sansamp VT will get you a 'tube' sound straight out of the box; I have a Sansamp and it stays on all the time. There...

    Finally... my sound rocks!

I am posting this for no other reason than sheer relief; that after many many false starts, tweaking and re-tweaking, wondering whether I had bought the wrong amp/bass/pedals... dialling up sounds on knobs, only to find the sounds I created didn't cut it... questioning everything...

Give me more vinyl and tweed, less rat fur and metal grills!

Tech 21 VT & BDDI help please...

is anyone running the Sansamp VT Character Series pedal with the Sansamp BDDI? I am lucky enough to have both in my pedalboard, but am unsure whether I should remove the BDDI (to be used only as a DI, as some have suggested) and keep the VT, or take that out to be used as a kind of...
