    I think I got a deal?

For the win! Let us know how it is - I am a big Lakland fan but never touched a US model.

P bass purists: can a short scale P ever REALLY sound like a regular P?

I searched pretty hard for that answer and am very happy where I landed. Good luck on your journey! My Lakland HH30 with GHS balanced nickels scratches my never ending P itch extremely well. Pickup is a little hot so I dial it back a touch. My JMJ stang with flats scratches a very similar P...

Our 10yo bassist outgrown her mini bass, which bass should she get?

Lakland HH 30. (It’s actually 30.25, fyi). Great instrument, lots of versatility and a wonderful Lakland neck.

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

Love, love, love it. Been waiting for its release. Perfect balance, 8.9 lbs, that great Lakland neck (plek’d), and really great tone and tonal options. Solid build, excellent quality. I am a big Lakland fan and have had a few including a Skyline Bob Glaub P that I really dug. This HH fills...

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

I've dabbled in the short or medium scale world for years and am finally all-in. How do I join this esteemed organization? Thanks! I've had the JMJ for a few years (wearing 2 y.o. TI Flats); just added the Lakland HH a few weeks ago (have settled on GHS Pure Ni). After years of GAS and...

Do You Own Your Perfect Bass?

I think so, just a really great, solid, short scale PJ. Not that I need the J part so much but I don’t wanna start anything. ✌️

SOLD * Final Sale Attempt * Sandberg Cali Vs Lionel SS with SD SBP-1

One more try at a sale before I go the trade route (thanks TB). This is a great, great instrument. Just not for me (an expensive error despite my pre-purchase due diligence). I did the pickup / pots swap in an attempt to get a more vintage sound. Progress was made - the new pickups are...

Does your favourite band also include your favourite bass player?

In 1977, my favorite bands were Yes, Rush, and Steely Dan. The connection seems obvious now but I wasn’t consciously thinking about it at the time. The ensembles were pretty good, too - not to mention their rhythm section partners!

SOLD * Final Sale Attempt * Sandberg Cali Vs Lionel SS with SD SBP-1

Trade interests: SS or Medium Scale hollow body; or, "the right P" (whatever that means); or, something I can't resist. Sale preferred however. - When the pickups were changed, the pots were as well to 250K ones. I have the original Sandberg pickups - do not have the old pots - Weight: 7.8...

Sandberg Lionel SS - Electronics replacement question

Background: - Recently got this baby and love the build quality, playability, etc. However it's a "bright" bass and the pickup is HOT and down right harsh. Far from "vintage" sounding. No amount of EQ or string changes is going to satisfy me (I've tried). - I have not opened it up and...

    NBD: Sandberg Lionel

After years of dabbling (and the endless quest for "the right" hollow body), I made the move to all short scales (that, and not having "too many" basses - as if that's a real thing). Until last week, that meant a JMJ Mustang (sporting TI Jazz Flats) that I really dig. But alas, I am a "P...

    Country Bass... basses and bassists?

Joe Osborn (20 yo flats on a 20 yo jazz!) - check out Merle’s “I Think I’ll Stay Here and Drink”. Classic. More recently, I really dig Chris Crepps (Dale Watson).
