    SX Ursa 6-string Jazz bass

Awesome info (RE: the Carvin spacing)! I tend to like their pickups, so may have to give them a consideration, as an alternative to routing out the pickup cavities already on the bass. Thanks again for the info! Quite useful!

    SX Ursa 6-string Jazz bass

I didn't "get SX" at first, either! TOTALLY glad I did though! My bass is holding up incredibly well, and I can barely put it down! Right comfortable on a strap, also! I will be buying a 2nd SX 6er from Rondo sometime soon! I was thinking of tricking out a CAR, and putting flatwounds on it ^_^

    SX Ursa 6-string Jazz bass

@FunkMetalBass: That post I mentioned earlier (this thread, post 458 by member "SMG") can be found here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/sx-ursa-6-string-jazz-bass-679191/index23.html#post12111638

    SX Ursa 6-string Jazz bass

I would love one too! I have happened upon a USA Fender 5 String P Bass before. While it sounded awesome, I didn't think it worth the price, personally. I really hope Rondo will release one in a P/J, or even a P/P! I have played a couple of basses in the past with two P Style pickups. Sounded...

    SX Ursa 6-string Jazz bass

@FunkMetalBass: As mentioned above, the string spacing is already 16mm. The Rondo site info was off. There was a post a ways back in this very thread where one of the forum members replaced the stock bridge with a (17mm string spacing) Hipshot-A style bridge from Allparts. They neck is...

About to pull the trigger on my first five string

I too have slightly small hands (but somehow play a 6 string now?!?!?! LOL!). I agree that the ESP's are quite comfortable, and have a great neck shape also. Good build quality too. I would definitely check out the Schecter Stiletto Studio 5. Excellent sound, comfort, and tone. As Schecter is...

Coming back to the bass after a long time and wanting to get a 6-string

@Sgroh87: I was in the same situation as you until recently! Due to school, and playing guitar in a band for a while, my good buddy, and one true love, the bass got left behind! I would recommend the Schecter hands down. Their build quality and tone tend to be quite excellent. While I do...

    SX Ursa 6-string Jazz bass

RE: Brightness of the sound due to the Maple neck. I would have to say that compared to Ibanez SR basses I have owned(one with a maple board, the other rosewood) with Bartolini Pre-Amps and Pups in them, that the Ursa 2 - 6 is NOWHERE near as bright as either of my IBZ! With or without dead/new...

    SX Ursa 6-string Jazz bass

Thank you so much for the correction, Dabbler! That will be the last time I post about mathematics so late at night! LOL! Considering what I do for work, I am rather embarrassed hahahaha! Seeing as how we have established that the string spacing is 16mm with both the division method, and also...

    SX Ursa 6-string Jazz bass

I also wanted to mention that the fit and finish of the instrument is EXCELLENT! I am very grateful to all who shared info about their orders on here. If it were not for this thread, I would maybe have passed it up! I am totally sold on SX Basses now! Caught the SX Bug! The two Truss Rods...

    SX Ursa 6-string Jazz bass

Hey all! Still pretty new around here. Love the forum! I just received my recent run SX Jazz 6 in the mail today. I must say, this thing is incredible for the price! I have owned other 6's in the past, but found them far too uncomfortable. This thing plays like a charm! (more years of...

Ibanez Ergodyne best bass for low price: Best bass of 1998-Bass player Magazine

Thank you for the kind words! It is true that the older EDB's were pretty heavy. I have had a chance to play one, and yeesh! Compared to an Ash bodied Stingray in weight! This EDC is pretty light overall, but still weighs the same as a normal Ibanez SDGR SR bass or so and the EDA I tried...

Ibanez Ergodyne best bass for low price: Best bass of 1998-Bass player Magazine

Here is some information I dug up by doing a US Patent search on Luthite. It is composed of a Resin, and a hardener, and is claimed to have the same specific gravity as wood. Please read more here. It is pretty in depth. Invalid Link Removed

Ibanez Ergodyne best bass for low price: Best bass of 1998-Bass player Magazine

I received the bass today. I set it up with Dunlop 45-105's, and cleaned it up. Truss rod needed a LOT of adjusting, as it seems to have mostly never been done. Pickup wiring is very clean, and quiet. Bass was made in 2002, in Korea. Matte Gold in color. Seems that there is a gasoline like odor...

Ibanez Ergodyne best bass for low price: Best bass of 1998-Bass player Magazine

Well, got the bass. I put some Dunlop 45-105's on it, adjusted the truss rod (that was way out of wack! Had NEVER been adjusted!), and cleaned the thing up. I must say, THERE IS NO ODOR that people keep mentioning! I even checked the control cavity! NO ODOR! Sounds like more gossip that we see...

Cool! I will do my best to make it sound less lifeless, and definately not modern. I accept your challenge! LOL :)

Ibanez Ergodyne best bass for low price: Best bass of 1998-Bass player Magazine

I just purchased that same Ibanez EDC 710 matte gold bass you were talking about from Louisville, Kentucky, for only $179! I am currently awaiting its arrival! I will post a review, and put up some youtube vids of what it can do! I am excited to hear the range of the electronics, and what the...
