I love them; got a Bex 4 and a TRBX305 and they're both fine.

I started playing bass in '86 and my first amp was a 30W Wem Dominator. Shortly replaced with a 50W Sound City. Good times.

Consider a Yamaha Bex4 if you can find one for the right money.

I've got one of these too. I usually play it through a Genz Benz Streamer and a couple of 112s, but sometimes just through a Tech 21 Bass Driver into the PA or a power amp and speakers. They're fabulous basses. There's a frequency graph for the EQ changes on the Features page here - Link...

Just to add to what Linnin said, are you using an instrument cable or a speaker cable?

Mine has a battery compartment next to the jack socket. Just opened it up and there are two hearing aid/digital watch type batteries. Doh, I didn't read your post properly, sorry. Mine isn't a solid body, but you could look there anyway :-)

I don't think that it makes a lot of difference, your fingers soon work out what they need to do. So try a few and go for what feels right.

Sometimes it's about price, sometimes it's about availability, don't even get me started on tone. That said, there's nothing wrong with having all one brand.

I based my reply on having two Yamamas and one ESP Ltd. Really though you need to get your hands on them and see which one feels the best. If that doesn't work, simply flip a coin ;)
