Treating Your Band Like a Business

http://www.musicbizacademy.com/knab/ I took his course years ago...geared mostly for originals. It was great at the time, but I am a cover guy and my bandmates discounted all the info I brought to them...so LOL

Ok, I have to ask it: WHY IS WEIGHT OF THE BASS SUCH A PRIORITY!?

Squiers! Who owns more than two? If so why?

I have 4...a P, a P/J, and 2 jag shorties. All have been modded and sound awesome. I play them all and never have to worry about banging them around. I really wonder how a squier could be the "holy grail" of anything tho?

    Question For Part-Timers On $$$$

3 guitars is too many in my book. Keys take up too much room and get in my sonic space. Everyone sings! Even if they aren't that good, there is no excuse not to at least sing some backups. I wouldn't play in a bar band where someone says "I don't sing". Did I mention..everyones sings! Of course...

Cover Band Experiences - Does your band expect a jukebox?

I play some spot on (someone mentioned Billie Jean), others not so much ("Word Up"). There is no written rule, no guide. The goal is to make women dance and sell booze and keep them there (if you are in a bar/club). I personally do care much for the "I play it note for note" crowd. Come close...

    NBD- Carvin BB76

This thread makes me want to pull my BB75 out of the closet and play it. I was my main bass for about 15 years, the only bass I gigged or recorded with! Awesome bass for sure! I might have to bring it for the Mardi Gras festivities Saturday. I switched to 4 string about 2 years ago, I love them...

    Going Wireless. Yes or No?

I've been using a shure pgx for about 5 years with no issues. I will never go back to cords! Sure you have more to bring in, but it's not that big a deal. Batteries last 2 4 hours gigs. You can go out front and hear how you actually sound, not how you think you sound. Of course you can dance...

I've been playing this bass for quite awhile now. I put Fralins in it, the J pickup is overwound 10%. The volume is very even. Sounds Great!

    Geezers Just Wont Quit

Getting "older" beats the other option! I'ld much rather be over the hill than under it...lol Old guys don't stop playing because they are getting long in the tooth. The main thing I've noticed is that I can't wear my cowboy boots all night, must be the added tonnage around my waist!

    Disco songs for power trio?

Once folks get lubed up (drunk), they hear the first few notes or words and it's on! I wouldn't worry too much about the horns, backup vocals, or keys, just play it like you mean it and they will eat it up. I'm in a 4 piece cover band and the singer doesn't play an instrument (UNLESS HARMONICA...

Daisy Rock, girl bass guitars, opinions?

I want one for sure, I love glitz! What's not to love? Short scale, glitter, matching headstock. It's easy enough to change out the electronics and get a decent sound. They seem to be a little high priced around here. I'll be patient until a good deal pops onto craigslist. I have a couple of...
