    Pre-Gibson Tobias Owners Club!

Good day everyone, I’ve come here for help on a Tobias Basic 6. It comes with a black Wilkinson bridge and unfortunately, the string retainer to the G string broke off. I’ve already contacted Mike Tobias and as always, was very helpful. But the options he suggested are no longer manufactured...

What song first drew your interest in playing bass?

“Keepers” by Casiopea. Saw them play live back in 88 and after that concert decided to take the bass seriously. Tetsuo Sakurai played a Yamaha TRB 6; first time I saw such thing as a 6-string bass. It changed my life forever.

Does anyone play with pickup covers and ashtrays on their bass?

I do. I own a 78 Jazz Bass and I like the Macus' look. Also, it helps me to anchor my thumb onto.

Although I have Boutique-ish Basses, I like my "Low Budgets" almost better

Hmmm... Got confused. Are Ex Factor(post-Fender)Kubickis,Pre-Gibson Standard Tobiases and Fabregues basses considered "boutique instruments?"

If you could own a celebrity's bass...

Well, I'd go for: -Vail Johnson's candy red Kubicki Factor. - Louis Johnson's pre Ernie Ball Stingray. (The one on his instructional video). - John Patitucci's Ken Smith. - Flea's Modulus 5 string (silver flake) - Tetsuo Sakurai's Yamaha TRB 6 - Maurice Fitzgerald's Peavey Cirrus.

    Philip Kubicki RIP

The Ex-Factor was the bass I first fell in love with when I began playing the instrument. Throughout so many years just dreamed of having one. I owned a Key Factor 5 at one point and I do own a Ex-Factor made by him for me in 2005. Never talked to him, only e-mailing (long story). But...

    Great News on Kubicki's

Now, that's good news! Gotta say that the tone of this instrument inspired me big time back in the late 80s while listening to guys such as Stu Hamm or Vail Johnson. Always dreamed of having one of those. Years later my dream became true and owned a Key Factor 5 and now I am a proud owner of an...

What is the best 6-string bass you've played or owned?

Well, I've owned about 3 six-string basses in my life...and for me is my Custom-made Fabregues 6. Probably you've never heard of them and I wonder if they're still be made. Got it in Puerto Rico about 11 from Pepe Fabregues.

Hi there! I just joined this forum because I really need your expert advice: I own a '78 Fender Jazz Bass which I got with EMG's on it. The battery is attached to the lower side of the body, so luckely there was no wood sacrifice. Anyways, the bass sounds really well; no hum or noise and good...
