Both are MIM P-basses. One is a dinged-up '94 I bought used on e-bay...

Back in February I bought a 1994 MIM P bass that is the spitting image of that burst of yours. Mine had (stock?) Strat-type knobs. I got it at a GC so I was able to put it through its paces. It's a darn nice instrument.

I have no problems with it as-is, but I like to tinker, so I bought a new premium wiring harness/jack for it, an SD 1/4-Pounder pickup, some Fender chrome knobs, and a black (b/w/b/) pickguard for it. I'm also slapping a cream pickup cover on it.

I've got an old SX bass I'm putting back together, so I'm throwing all the electronics and the pup from the MIM into the SX.

Well, with the Blacktop I put in the vintage Jazz wiring system on the inside and on the outside, black chrome knobs and a new pickguard:
