The bass is in beautiful condition, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it looks. It played well upon arrival. It does have a slight bow where the neck meets the body, but a little heat press should fix it right up. Overall a good deal on a nice bass. Thank you, hope to deal again.

    L1000 bump at first fret.

Thanks guys. Any suggestions as to what I might do to get it fixed? I have a good luthier. I just bought this bass on Ebay, and the seller did not disclose this detail. I am not sure how to proceed. WWYD?

    L1000 bump at first fret.

Hi, I think I've heard this is somewhat common with L1000s, but is this a problem? I'm concerned the fingerboard appears to be a little cracked. I assume this is the truss rod protruding slightly. It doesn't seem to affect how the instrument plays. Thoughts? Thanks a lot!

Guidance on 1963 short scale Fender Jazz

Just to put an end to this story, the seller was 100% honest in his portrayal of what he thought was a '63 Jazz. I know this now because he completely refunded my money this afternoon. I had a nice long discussion with him about music and bass playing. A nice guy who wasn't intentionally...

Guidance on 1963 short scale Fender Jazz

Hi all, I picked up a rough bass for a pretty good price yesterday, a 1963 Fender Jazz, short scale (33"), with a single pickup. Serial is L1xxxx, so it comes up as a 63. I am not sure what to do with it. Right now, it's dying for a setup, so that is in order. There are some cracks in the...

Up for sale is a 1967 Epiphone Rivoli bass guitar. It was just thoroughly set up by Rainbow Guitars here in Tucson, Arizona. (I will include proof of this work.) The action is nice and low with no fretting out. The neck is really nice. It is straight, and the angle is good. There is no...

Double Bass NEW Euphonic Audio iAMP Doubler

I notice on Bob G's site that he has an XLR out solution just using a 1/4" to XLR male. So I assume this is microphone level signal as opposed to a line level signal needing a transformer direct box? (sorry, I assume this has been asked before...)

Double Bass Need a good amp for my upright

Wow, now that you mention it, I did not do enough research, as for a couple bills more the Coda+ looks incredible... Just the 12. It was on sale in the classifieds. I know I'll be missing the extra bass response, but I figure it'll be better than a wizzy 10 re: bass. Actually, I did...

Double Bass Need a good amp for my upright

Hi, Lawrence! well, I went with the Doubler b/c I want to be able to blend a microphone and the Realist freely. The other alternative for that would be a Clarus+ which would be considerably more coin. I decided not to go w/ the used Focus in the classifieds. Have I made a misjudgment...

Double Bass Need a good amp for my upright

just thought I'd update the thread. I ended up going with a Doubler and Wizzy 112. Will have them both by next week. I've never used a high end amp before (period), so I have a feeling I'll be thrilled with the new amp setup for my upright. I'll keep the GK Backline 112 around though b/c it...

Double Bass narrowing my choices, amp for pizz + bow

Hi again! I hope it's alright I started a new thread, as I would like to get some more attention to my query. :) I've done some research for an amp/cab setup, and seem to be settling on a Wizzy 112, and either a Clarus or Focus. My intention is to switch between bow and pizz. More pizz than...

Double Bass Need a good amp for my upright

Thanks, Lawrence. I've been searching for opinions re: Clarus Series II vs. Series III but didn't find much. Am I making a significant compromise to pick up a Series II, as the series II has less wattage... Thanks! David

Double Bass Need a good amp for my upright

So I'm looking at a Clarus Series II in the classifieds right now. I wonder if that paired with a good cab would be just the ticket for me? Enough power for loud bars, maybe outdoor venues? PA systems probably would be fairly common, but not always. Would the Clarus do as well with pizz as...
