Guy's a real mensch. Promptly shipped upon receipt of funds, but then FedEx (or possibly USPS) fumbled the ball. He made repeated calls to get everything straightened out and have the package re-routed to its proper destination. Also called and texted to provide updates. When the goods arrived...

    Need the ultimate lightweight combo

+100 I've never understood why the Promethean P5110 didn't make it. For size/weight, power, and sound, the thing killed -- yet somehow never found a market. If you can find one used, jump on it. I won't be giving up mine ...

MEDIUM SCALE WARWICK ROCKBASS 5'er, this just changed everything

Just discovered the same thing, independently. Told by a stateside dealer yesterday that none of the medium scale RB 5s will be available in the U.S. -- active or passive, satin or black. Looks like ebonalley scored one only because it was a floor demo from NAMM. Bitterly disappointed...

    Source Audio Sourcerers Society (S.A.S.S.)

Yeah, I've slowly reached the same conclusion. Six presets are a lot more appealing than two, and the real estate savings of the SB2 design will be wiped out by needing an adaptor. Looks like instant gratification (the BEF Pro is available right now) is the way to go. Thanks for your insights.

Thanks for the quick reply. Just to clarify, is the adapter intended to support _both_ MIDI and the HH hooked up at the same time? In other words, the performer could pull up a preset via MIDI, then immediately start applying Hot Hand control to pedal output?

Got a question for folks familiar with the Soundblox Pro and version 2 product lines: it's about how they handle MIDI and Hot Hand inputs. Right now, I've got a Programmable EQ that's controlled via the MIDI jack. Works great, and I'd like to continue that approach by adding a BEF 2 when it...

    a bass veritone

Another way to play the varitone game is to add this near the start of your signal chain: I use one with a Jag, and it puts four very different-sounding instruments on tap. (Five if you count turning it off.) Controls eight frequency bands; the LED display wraps around left to give access...

    LaBella original 1954 Jamerson--need advice

Well, for what it's worth, I switched to the 1954s from Chromes on a fairly thin-necked Italia. Didn't like the loose tension of the Chrome B, despite its girth. Nut filing was required to get that fat boy in, and I couldn't get it to stop rattling at the string height I preferred. The 1954s...

    TC ELECTRONIC BG250

Thanks for the clarification, but the two BG250s I've tried had nada, zero, zilch treble control. I spent a fair amount of time experimenting with both passive and active basses, EQ combinations, comparing with that Uriah Duffy "tone contouring" video ... just about everything short of attaching...

    TC ELECTRONIC BG250

Same here: I sent my back for a replacement last week, since I loved everything about the thing except the AWOL treble control, which is kind of a deal-breaker for a bass combo. It's a great little unit, but they've clearly got a problem with quality control. Looks like a whole factory run...

New TC Electronic bass combo - BG250

Just noticed that Musicians Friend has the BG250 in stock and is running a 15% Memorial Day coupon code: FREEDOM15. That makes it $340, no tax, free shipping to CONUS. Tempting, no?

FS: Carvin MB10 combo in swank emerald green

Bought this a year ago, when I wanted a grab-n-go combo for rehearsals outside the house. Long story short, those rehearsals never took off and -- even though this thing's compact -- it's just been taking up space in the study. So let's put it to work. Weighs only 23 lbs, with 200/250w...

    5-strings for small hands

This mostly, plus a slim profile neck will help. I had exactly the same concern a year ago, but am having no trouble at all now. Helps that I favor flats, which reduces the finger noise that can come with slightly more movement. But mostly, it's just a matter of practice. If I could get the...

    Badass or Babicz bridge?

Don't have experience with the Badass, but for what it's worth, installed the Babicz and have really liked it. Perfectly matched up with the string spacing and hole alignment, and its engineering is pretty slick. Appearance is always a matter of taste, but to me the thing looks beefy and...

    Genz Benz Streamliner Pt 7.....

Actually, going through the front end was my first choice. I'd had the modded VT Bass for several months before the SL, so I started with the same setup as before -- VT in front, using blend to let some "natural" instrument voice come through. That worked great for goosing a GK combo. But in...

    Genz Benz Streamliner Pt 7.....

You're not alone. A few weeks back, after dialing in my preferred SL tone, I placed a VT Bass Deluxe with the Putnam blend mod in the effects loop. 60% SL core, 40% VT/Ampegish tweak. Result is tubetastic tone on tap, going from dark and (mostly) clean to gritty, oily grime. Hadn't...

Downloaded the app to my Mac and spent some time with it today.
