    PINO PALLADINO SMOOTHIE FLATS

Dunlops are pretty bright and balanced sounding at least compared to the other La Bellas I've tried. Do these lean more traditional/thumpy? I've used LTFs too so any comparison to those would help also.

The overwhelming task of picking the right rig...

Good start! I recently bought a Genzler ULV210 which I love. I tried a few heads with it but it pairs best with a Shuttle 6.2 (duh!), not that the others don't sound great but there is a responsiveness that I'm getting with them sharing the same dna. I'm sure a Quilter would rock with that cab.

For sale Carvin AG 112 cabinet with Eminence S2012

I bought this directly from Carvin a number of years back in custom black tolex (stock is green). It's loaded with an Eminence S2012 speaker and Carvin tweeter which I believe is also made by Eminence. The tweeter level is adjustable. 1 1/4 speaker jack on rear. I added foam to the interior and...

    Official GR Bass Club

FWIW I moved from a TE elf 110 to a GR wood 110. The GR seems to have better power handling. Pushing them both with 250 watts the TE sounded a bit strained at higher volumes but the GR handles it fine.

Anyone try both these and SIT Foundation nickel? Also is the general consensus that these are brighter than Super Brights?

Phil Jones Bass Engine 17 vs. Micro 7?

I demo'd the PJB 17 at guitar center a while back and compared to a bunch of other small combos from fender, acoustic and a couple others. It was the smoothest, most full range sounding but also the quietest. I was suprised at how little volume it had. The Rumble 40 will have way more volume...

    Double Bass TC Bam200

I stopped using my bam200 for a while but recently pressed it back into service for smaller gigs. With the right cab it's easy to get a nice sound with upright.

Still loving my Bullhead Mini for both electric and upright bass. I was just thinking about it's first gig after buying it used. 90° weather direct sunlight four ohm load. It didn't break a sweat unlike me.

Double Bass What's the modern equivalent of the GK MBS 150-III?

The EDM has a 3 band EQ and HPF. I usually have the mids and highs set around 9-10 o'clock. That can go up to noon depending on the room but never boosted. The lows usually stay around noon, ocassionally boosted or cut a bit. The HPF is usually around 9 o'clock. This is all room dependent...

Double Bass What's the modern equivalent of the GK MBS 150-III?

I'd love try one of those ^ I have a Bullhead Mini that sounds great with upright, no preamp necessary. The Markbass goes to small gigs and the Trickfish through other cabs for louder stuff.

Double Bass What's the modern equivalent of the GK MBS 150-III?

I had a Rumble 100 for a while. It's a great amp for the price and sounds good but not great. It has a strong baked in sound that just didn't work for me in some rooms, even with a preamp. I have the Markbass 8" combo now. It needs a preamp to sound good but I do like it a lot with either a...

    New Cort 1x12 combo

I was being a little sarcastic. I generally like Bass the World reviews, they're pretty thorough and I feel like I have a sense of what the gear can offer from them. He gets some great players for the demos and he does nitpick if there's something he doesn't like about a piece of gear. IIRC in...

    Double Bass Zyex light alternative

I'm using Zyex lights now and I find them soft compared to other steel strings save solo gauge. If you want something noticeably softer try Thomastik Superflexible solos tuned down. Technique will take some adjusting and you'll be giving up some volume but they're great sounding strings and they...

I recently picked up a 210 ULV and have had it out on a few gigs. Thought I'd share my thoughts since there isn't a whole lot out there about this cab, besides the Genzler sponsored content. Warwick Gnome i Pro V2 Digital Pocket Bass Amp Head (300 Watts)

I like the bam for acoustic gigs - it has a nice sweet midrange, and actually the tight lows help with my upright. But yeah it sounds a little anemic next to the Gnome ipro, which has a nice fat low end for such a small amp.

Warwick Gnome i Pro V2 Digital Pocket Bass Amp Head (300 Watts)

I own the Gnome ipro and TC Bam200 and used to have a BQ 500. The Gnome is a great amp and noticeably more powerful than the Bam200. It has a more scooped sound with more lows and highs than the TC amps, which were more mid-forward to my ear. I like they sound of both but slightly prefer the Gnome.

Double Bass Spiros solos : 3/4 vs 4/4 (because Perpetuals apparently aren't)

As far as Perpetual's longevity, it depends on what you like. For me they got pretty thuddy sounding for jazz pizz after about 9 months. They still sounded great arco.
