Yes, it could be more EQ than I would ever need. I'm looking forward to trying it out over the next few weeks. The RE/Q, IMO, is such high quality that even if I only use the filters and I think it's a good value.

I've mentioned it in this thread but I had a RE/Q for a while that I used with my MG800 but it ended up being overkill for me. My setup sounds so good with EQ at noon and contour A dialed to taste that I don't need anything else. I don't push my BA410 at all so I don't worry about sub lows ever compromising the drivers. On the (very) rare occasion I get in a boomy room I've had good success with just rolling off a little of the bass knob and calling it good. The RE/Q would definitely be more precise using the HPF but I'm fine without it....

What is the advantage of a LPF for bass? I'm not a slapper, so maybe it's aimed more to that crowd? My bass frequencies start to drop @ 4K, which is well under the operating range of a LPF ... right? Completely agree with the value of a HPF for bass!

It depends on a lot of variables - bass guitar used, strings used, amplifier used, mainly the type of sound you want to produce.

They can help slot the sound of your bass into a band mix in a less processed way (compared to some EQ circuits).

I use the adjustable HPF and LPF in my Two Notes Opus on every preset.

For less money you can get a Broughton Low + High Pass Filter or one of Fdeck's units.

I have found most EQ needs can be handled well by running the Broughton, or its big brother, the RFE, in front of the MG350 EQ and contours.

You can do a lot of tone shaping with the MG350 bass and treble controls already, in combination with the contours. The Broughton gives variations and room control, and can function as an added HF rolloff for the Bass Array cabs, which don't have HF attenuators.

There are definitely cases of too much EQ, between pedals and amp controls. However, the Broughton + MG350 would cover many players' needs in an amped situation.

So… for the heck of it, I plugged a guitar and pedalboard into my Magellan 800 (and bass cabs). Um… it sounded great. Used the clean channel, Countour on A, all EQ flat. The pedalboard is set-up for drives going into the amp, reverb, delay, and looper going in the effects loop.

I mean… it sounded so good I glanced at the guitar amp and thought… did I need to buy that?

I guess the interesting thing is the drive channel on the Magellan doesn’t feel like it impacts the guitar as much as it does my bass. I really had to crank it to get some drive.

My 8 year old son is a gear head of the highest order. He's been playing one of those little Loog Telecasters for 2 years now. He has a little Gamma 25 guitar amp but his preferred rig is my Magellan 800 and Nu Classic 212.

He just brought me a picture he drew of me jamming. I figured i should share it here. He said to tell Jeff that a vertical 4x12 would be cool.

That's my newest acquisition, an Ibanez Prestige SR4505. He loves pouring over the details and differences of all of my basses, so he made sure to point out that he included the 2+3 tuners which is unlike any of my others. This kid is going to be trouble

Wow, this is awesome. Love the drawing and the cab design and logo. Tell him he can expect design royalties if this 412 cab ever happens. Love the detail on the bass as well. Looks like Dad needs a GAS account set up for him ASAP.

Cleaning out my music nook today I found the receipt for Magellan 800 dated 6/12/16! So for almost 10 years I’ve been completely happy with my bass amp!

Thought I would share a couple pics of my new Genzler rig at home waiting to go to its first band practice.

The MG350 and 112ULV make a great grab and go rig. I've used the Genzler bracket kit to make this a combo. Very handy!

Here is the excellent Genzler padded cover for the MG350/112ULV combo. It provides great protection, a perfect fit, and includes a velcro strap on the bottom.

The combo cover is designed to accommodate the MG350 and then slopes back to meet the back of the cabinet and of course includes access to the rear corner handle.

I couldn't be more pleased with this rig! Rehearsal and gig reports to come!

Interesting that these new combo covers do not have the "hat" (as Jeff calls it) for the MG350 on top, like the older covers for the non-ULV Magellan 12 combos. I wonder if the currently available covers for the 1x10 combos are in this style as well.
