Help me identify these strings please.

These were installed on my bass by a previous owner whom unfortunately I cannot contact. The sound they produce was astonishing and I'm eager to find a couple of sets. The strings are roundwounds with silver (-ish) silk and the ball ends are black. Can't find them anywhere. If anyone can help...

Yet another pinkie thread (and I've made some pictures)

Well, up the bass goes then. I guess I have no choice. Got to look more classy from now on.

Why guitar players can hang their instruments low and we can't?

Yet another pinkie thread (and I've made some pictures)

Another problem is that when I hang my bass higher my left shoulder starts to hurt.

Yes I play sitting and no my left hand position is OK when I play sitting.

Producing adequate sounds with my bass while looking cool is my priority.

I'm actually using that pinkie to fret. And when I apply a little bit too much pressure in some positions on the fretboard it looks like in the picture above. Most of the time it looks kind of like this:

    Because he's John freaking Entwistle.

Well the point is that I can play effectively.

I would have probably done that already, but the higher it is the lamer it looks. :hiding:

Well my left hand technique is crap. Probably because my bass hangs somewhere below my belt notwithstanding me playing in a progressive/art rock band. Or because I'm too lazy to get my hand into shape. The problem is that my pinkie position is quite disturbing sometimes (picture on the right)...

What's Aguilar AG 500SC stuffed with?

By 'better' I mean no digital stuff inside :) for same price

What's Aguilar AG 500SC stuffed with?

That's what I wanted to hear actually. Anyways I'm going to get an Aguilar and post some kind of report.

What's Aguilar AG 500SC stuffed with?

Maybe some Mesa/Boogie M6 will do better?

What's Aguilar AG 500SC stuffed with?

So, I guess that preamp is analog and power amp is digital then.

What's Aguilar AG 500SC stuffed with?

Tells me nothing except that there are no tubes :) Little explanation required.

What's Aguilar AG 500SC stuffed with?

There are tons of good reviews on this thing. But I can't find anything anywhere about what's inside the bastard. Is it digital or analog?

    Fender Bassman head (old one)

It's only 5350 miles away from me. Totally seems like a good option.

    Fender Bassman head (old one)

To be honest, only music stores practice morbid price extension in our country, e.g. a new fender american standard precision costs around 2200$. Used gear goes fore reasonable prices. I'll keep in mind that it's actually around 400$ in US. And I forgot to notice that I'm playing some sorta...

    Fender Bassman head (old one)

It's quite hard to listen to anything for me, so I want to exclude obvious garbage out of my list of possible amps before I start listening to them. It'll save me a lot of time.

    Fender Bassman head (old one)

I don't want all this to turn into another hey-people-choose-an-amp-for-me thread, but do you guys seriously think that modern solid state and hybrid 700-800$ heads sound better than old tube bassman?

    Fender Bassman head (old one)

Unfortunately Genz-Benz amps sound pretty lame imo.

    Fender Bassman head (old one)

I live in the ass of the world (Russia) so everything costs twice here cause of lots of shipping issues. And getting a cab actually seems almost impossible, but I'll still try. And I guess old tube amp must be better than new solid state crap for 700-800$. But if I'm wrong a bunch of names of...

    Fender Bassman head (old one)

I do not have any model yet. But I'm thinking of getting one. Like this one, for example: Link Removed Only with knobs, that are not broken.

    Fender Bassman head (old one)

A lot of questions I've got. And most of them are stupid. (It's originally made for bass right?) So. If it's 60's-70's tube head, how is it possible that it costs around 700-800$? Does it sound well with modern cabinets or an original one is better? Is 100 or 135 watts enough for small gigs or...

    Bridge alignment on Rickenbacker

It sounds reasonable. Unfortunately there's no official Rickenbacker dealership in our country so getting new saddles is going to be a huge pain in the ass, but I guess it's the best option. Thank you guys.

    Bridge alignment on Rickenbacker

I finally provided myself with a used Rick but it has that annoying problem when E is closer to the neck edge than G. And strings don't quite match magnet poles of the bridge pickup. Rickenbacker is a neck-through bass so I guess it's a bridge misplacement. Should I do something about it?
