Gun question from a clueless bastid...

Yep, a neat old piece of history. It's a C&R piece, so no real regulations. Have a competent gunsmith check it out if you want to shoot it. Oh, and black powder loads only.

Moving to another position - a farewell of sorts

That's cool man, no matter how awesome of a job you still have to put family first. Thanks for all your help too.

So what bass do I get???

I'm partial to Warwicks, you can get used German Warwicks in that price range, like Corvettes. Also, the Pro Series (Korean) would be worth looking at as would be the newer Rock Bass (China). However, American made Peaveys are hard to beat, I have a 1994 Fury that was $100 and came with a...

No number, I think I can make out remnants of one on top of the headstock. All of the features tell me it's a transitional model from 91, I'll post more about it later once I fix it up and shine it up.

No I haven't yet, but with being neck through, thinner neck and body than the Thumb I play and all maple construction, it's very noticable. After I repair it and string it up I'll do that and report back.

Sweet, I love his vidoes. I like his slap style too, I try to replicate it but I just can't get the hang of it or any slap style for that matter.

I don't know if fixing that is something I want to take on myself. As far as the pickups go, it has MEC but the J pup doesn't quite fit the slot. I want to fatten the sound a little but the P pup really needs help as it's almost silent when played passive. I want something louder in passive...

So last night I took it apart for inspection and a couple things I found. One, the fingerboard and neck are seperating at the nut, so before I restring it I'm going to have that fixed PRONTO. The other thing is that the electronics seem to have been monkied with, I saw usage of electrical tape...

So I brought my practice amp into work to play and this bass is awesome. The different tones I can get are great but I just fell in love with my bass at midway, treble at quaterish and playing off both pickups. From there I would roll back to the bridge for a punchy tone or to the neck for a...

Pics of your 'wicks - Let's see YOUR Warwick Basses!

Yes, I have watched those tuturials and they were very helpful when I set up my friend's 02 Thumb BO. Thanks for the extra info, I'm very anxious to get my Streamer cleaned up and start playing it.

Warwick Official, does Warwick offer parts kits that would have all the little screws and springs for my bass? Some of them are rusted and I'd rather just have a kit to buy rather than a box of each screw size and spring size.

I got my Streamer today, I am amazed that it weighs almost nothing! Slim neck and wide string spacing, it begs me to play fast. You can tell by the pics she's a bit buggered up but I'll fix that. As far as fret noise, it's only on the D string and looking at it what it really needs is the string...

Yeah, it's just sitting in the post office right now, it was here Saturday but no one available to sign for it. So, I have to wait until tomorrow, I even brought my practice amp in to work to play during lunch. Stupid post office with stupid days off.

Ok, had to sell some things quick but I bought it! With shipping, insurance and paypal fees it came to just shy of $400 for a 1991 Streamer Stage 1. A little bit of elbow grease by me or by a friend of a friend who is on tour with Sanctus Real right now, and it will be good as new.

Used Peavey Fury 4 vs. New Yamaha RBX170

If it's an American made Fury, go for it. I have a '94 and it's a all kinds of awesome. American made Peaveys are hidden treasures, I would even take mine over a Fender Pbass, except for vintage ones. If it isn't, I'd skip both the Peavey and Yamaha and go find an American made Peavey or higher...

Ok, got the skinny. He gave me the store that he purchased it from. Also, it needs some work. There is some fret buzz so he took it to a shop and they wanted $200 to repress the frets. Sounds like it just needs set up properly and I've done that to Warwicks before.

I've found a guy selling an older Streamer but I can't nail down exactly which model it is. He bought it 10 years ago used, serial numbers sanded off, is neck thru with passive/active P/J pickups. Also has gold hardware and yin yang inlays and says made in Germany. I think it's an LX but I'm not...

    Thumb BO

I play a Thumb and recently put GHS Pressure Wounds on it and tuned to drop D and it sounds awesome. There is something weird about the bass though. Whether I tune it EADG or DGCF, I will get it in tune but the first two frets will always be way sharp unless I play right on the fret itself...
