angela.com has the '75 jazz bass bridge (slotted saddle screws, 19mm spacing etc.) for $36.00. The Gotoh 201 and Badass are good bridges but they have thicker base plates. Even with the saddles all the way down, neck tilt adjustment may become necessary if you like low action.
Thanks everyone. The velcro mounts were screwed in tight and the grill on this cab fits very tight. I could barely get it off and it snaps back in very secure. This cab is built very well. The grill frame is even birch plywood.
The fuzz gets louder with volume. I agree with proper speaker break...
Taking the grill off didn't do it. It's in the speakers. I thought I would try saving $80
but americanmusical has great return policy. The cab is worth $300 new.
It's not feedback and placing the cab in different positions doesn't effect it.
It's a slight smooth fuzz that tracks the notes in a natural way. Being a restock
the speakers may have gotten high milage with 45 day return policy.
I checked all the screws. The speakers are also mounted nicely with 8 screws on each speaker...nice even torque. The fuzz comes from the center of the speakers. I have to get right up close to notice it. It's smooth.
I just picked up a scratch and dent svt210av on sale from americanmusical rated @ 200W rms. Nice tight low E on my 4 string and full balanced sound up the neck. I'm powering it with an Eden wtx-260 head 180w @ 8 ohms with volume at 10 o'clock and doesn't mind if I take it up to noon. It sounds...
I'd like to try Linear pots in my Jazz Bass. Does anyone know where I can purchase Linear 250K CTS Pots with Solid Shaft that fit American Standard Jazz Bass control plates with Set Screw type knobs?
I'd like to try linear pots in my Jazz Bass. Do you know where I can purchase a linear 250K CTS pot with 3/8" diameter bushing 1/4" long and 1/4" diameter solid shaft 3/8" long for American Standard Jazz Bass control plates with set screw knobs?
Thanks for all the helpful info you have posted!
Thanks...no ground to the blend pot...got it. I wasn't sure if it was just the upper left to the lower right or the entire connection to the back of the volume pot or tone pot...
depending which diagram is used.
Okay. I've got the 250K bourns blend pot. The resistance levels check out good on the meter. I will leave the upper left to the lower right off. Do I still leave the lower right with the "ground" symbol connected to ground?
...or do I leave the blend pot totally ungrounded?
Thanks, Tom
If it's any help, the distance from the center of the pole piece of the bridge pickup to the center of the average bridge saddle is 2 9/32" (58mm) on my 1976 Jazz Bass.
I found a couple youtube clips of the JMVC 4 FE/M2 split-coil humbucker jazz set. The output sounds very high with great response in all frequencies. I can't think of anything to compare them to....they sound totally wild.
The Fender Original Jazz Bass Pickups being sold today (aka:Vintage Jazz Bass Single-Coil)
are rated 7.25/7.50.
I think they used to be packaged "Fender '62 Original Jazz Bass Pickup Set".
Maybe they sent you a set of these.
If you perceive it to be better on the floor, you could roll it in on an appliance dolly
and put it on the floor when you set up.
IMHO though, cabs always sound better to me with big rubber feet
or heavy duty casters with rubber wheels.
The Markbass Club 102 has a deluxe tolex covering. One cab with 300watts at 8 ohms is very loud and punchy. Two cabs with 500 watts move a lot more air and really get the floorboards moving. With rear porting, compression driver tweeter and diagonal speaker design, the 102 is the best 2x10 I've...
