Anyone playing a 60s spec P bass as their Number 1?

I purchased a modern vintage 64 p bass and could not get used to the width at the nut. It bothered me enough that I traded it away for another instrument. The sound and look of it was absolutely stunning. A beautiful piece of art.

Why do people "hate" Gallien Krueger speakers?

Hey thank you for that clarification and yes all I can say good about the GEO 4x10 but i know nothing about the other cabs by GK. Yes I get that too; impedance matching and power handling as well.

Why do people "hate" Gallien Krueger speakers?

I've been playing an GK RB head with a 4 by 10 Geo cabinet for about 2 years now and it's the finest rig I've ever performed with in more than 40 some years of gigging.

i agree with what you say about flats on a larger scale bass, but on my Huntington I the chromes actually have more of a musical note with the mids cutting through beautifully, and the lows thump without being muddy. The shorter scale tames a lot of the ugly out of Chromes.

    Experience with Pickguard Planet?

No I won't use them again after being completely basted by their customer service. The only other high end option is expensive but they are the best and resell quite easily. Expect to pay towards 200+ Spitfire pickguard but man they are the best. Check reverb.com too.

If you could jam with any one drummer for an hour…

Wayne Wilson formerly Whisky Howl, worked with my band Stretch for many years. He made me a better player.

Yesterday I came home with a Passion RG4 maple board! I don't think I'll ever let it go. The playability and tones you can get are real close to my P and Jazz Deluxe, and in series the thing absolutely blooms. The neck is faster than anything else I own. A keeper. Can't wait to gig with her.

    NBD - Godin Passion RG4

I just came home with one. It's mint and I'm never selling it! The selector switch dials in some serious tones and it's enough to forgive not having control over how much, as it doesn't matter because it's perfect the way they're set-up. I love the neck. Very close in profile to my 97 Jazz...

    Which cab would you select?

It's my fault. I'm a fanboy gas master;) I've looked at the Jones stuff but never played them. I had a real beauty I wish I had back that weighed 22 pounds. Glasstone L'il G.

    Which cab would you select?

For the amount of room and extra space a second cab will get you... Look at the Gallien Krueger Neo cabs and RB1001 head. Light and crazy powerful. Tone monster.

    Experience with Pickguard Planet?

I've ordered a few Jazz and P guards from these guys, and recently a 4 ply blank. The products are good however if you ever have to deal with customer service via email, they are rude and kind of smarmy. Too UPS will ding you large if ordering from out of country. On a 100 CND item I paid...

    Mystery Tele Bass

51P knockoff ordered. There's only one pickup cavity. I've a friend with a Paisley with single 51 in it and it sounds thumpy clean. I've cleaned and soldered/rewired the original pots and waiting on a sheet of eldiablo pickguard material from Pickguard Planet. Will finish this when both items...

    Mystery Tele Bass

Yes there's a lot of wear along the edge and back of the neck as well, mostly from being played. Once I get to the action, I'll determine if I'm going to level, replace or leave it as is. There was no buzzing or other issues when played before disassembly however the action was at the top end of...

Beginning to clean up the hardware. Rosewood fretboard is quite nice after a clean with fretboard oil, and the truss rod works and is right and right.

When I began gigging steady at 16 I played a Raven with black nylon strings through a couple 15 Traynors with a YBA-4. Same neck. Funny thinking back that I didn't go looking for a Fender until years later....

    Mystery Tele Bass

Yes I think you have it right and everything looks like this. Finding that pickguard and pick-up with surround is going to be...I plan on cutting my own pickguard, covering the pickup and will put a 51 P bass pickup in the hole. Leaving everything else stock.

    Mystery Tele Bass

Yes I'm going to buy a sheet of pic guard material and cut my own pickguard and have it come back over top of those holes in the center and drop a 51 P bass pickup in there and leave everything else as is. It's got a great neck and it sounds really good. Should be playable when I'm done.

Yes that's the one isn't it! I'm missing the toggle switch and pickguard; and mine only routed for the middle pickup or possibly two half lipstick in middle position.

    Mystery Tele Bass

No, sadly I did not get a history but it's definitely one of the lower end models from Ibanez back in the day and it's worth lies in it's age and the availability of parts; what I can do to make this finished.

It's a "rat" for sure. Those little flat pickups actually work. I need a pickguard and original lipstick pickup and pickup cover to make this work before I frankenfender it

    Mystery Tele Bass

I bought this mystery tele base that is missing a pickguard and the pickup itself and I'm looking for that pick up and cover if this is what I suspect and that's a chambered Ibanez from about the early '70s I believe??
