Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

Measuring from the 12th fret the neck pickup is 10.5"(on center of the pair) and from the 12th to the bridge pickup 13.5" (on center of the pair). To be precise it's narrower than the aperture of a Jazz bass by .0625" and 1/16 (.0625) short from a stingray but sonically about the same. A...

Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

It's an homage. The metal control plate has a jazz bass cut at the top of it where it ties into the pickgaurd. Instead of a jazz bass straight plate it's a precision curved plate made from a repro late 50's pickgaurd. That plate has switches and knob placement reminiscent of G&L. The pickups...

Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

Agreed. It’s a monster sound. Versatile. I had to make that one out of an already modified 62 Precision. And yes it is a Glenda. Part precision, new and original, part jazz bass, part stingray and part G&L. the homage.

Not much warning. Power dipped several times then surged and it was toast.

Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

New rig after my last stuff was destroyed by bad power. Works with every size gig I've done with it. Modular, loud and clear, light and compact for how big it sounds. Hope I can keep this one going for years. It's a swiss army knife rig. Thanks for all you do Jim Bergantino and Tom Bowlus!

Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

Good summary. And I fully intend on getting that 115 as soon as I can to mix and match whenever somebody buys some of the gear I have up for sale. That whole rig has clarity, definition, controllable low end and overall precision that I haven’t had before. So much so that all the preamping...

Double Bass Looking for a Double Bass to lease in the Bahamas

Playing a gig at the Atlantis Resort in Bahamas late this year. Its a one off. I'd rather not fly a double bass down there for just one job. I can certainly fly a Fender Bass but I was hoping to lease one. Is that even possible?

Ampeg SVT and 410HE replacement drivers

Got a set of the Heritage 10's for the Ampeg 410HE. The part number above is correct. The Heritage 10's are indeed a different thing than the regular 10's. Not by much to look side by side in the raw, but in the cab they sound significantly better than the mid 2003 Eminence they replaced...

Ampeg SVT and 410HE replacement drivers

Eminence makes the same part number in both China and the USA? How do you tell the difference to whomever you order from? ...or are the heritage drivers that much better?

Ampeg SVT and 410HE replacement drivers

Reading a bunch of threads here and I still can't sort this out. The typical 10" driver for quite some time has been an Eminence made 86-032-01 32ohm 10". Eminence makes the Legend B810 as well. It appears that the drivers in the Heritage SVT are something yet again different. Does anyone have...

    Replacement 8" Drivers EA VL208

Invalid Link Removed Looks like they have a half dozen 8" drivers. I can't tell by looking at the wiring how the 8" drivers are hooked up, either independent of the crossover or after a low pass circuit. Perhaps the EA folks could enlighten me on some of that. Thanks for taking the time to...

    Replacement 8" Drivers EA VL208

Faital's seem compelling, they are under $50 each, that's not bad at all. Thanks for the recommendation. The drivers in the cabinets are 16ohm. So I'd have to run the 4ohm in series or the 8ohm in paralell and make them 4 ohm boxes. I'm fine with that if that's not an issue. I don't know...

    Replacement 8" Drivers EA VL208

I love my EA VL 208 cabs. I've used for long enough to burn up many 8" drivers. I bought the remaining stock of drivers from EA and there are no more. Over the years I've now gone through them all. Eminence doesn't make anything like it anymore. They don't have recone kits. Neither company had...

    Double Bass Original Flat Chromes

If you like it heavier on the bottom stay with mittels if you like it heavier on the top then weichs. I think the tension/stiffness of the OFC D/G are right in between. I don't really like that OFC D for pizz. It's a nice arco strings though.

Double Bass AudioKinesis Thunderchild 112 cab

I still have to do some gig testing to know for sure. But it's the best contender yet for me moving on from the VL208; but I'll know better after a half dozen gigs with one. Things always sound different in the soup than they do in the lab.

Double Bass AudioKinesis Thunderchild 112 cab

Yea. that cabinet is bad ass. It's the first cab that I suspect will make me retire the VL208's. I plugged the Queen into it with a full circle and the headway into the power section of the Focus 2RIII bypassing the preamp and it was a good an amplified bass sound as I've ever heard. Arco...

    Double Bass Original Flat Chromes

Sounds right. I'm probably putting that G back on my bass when the Oliv that lives there dies or breaks. I use spiro mitts on the bottom three, probably staying there. G is always in flux between the Oliv the OFC and the regular Mittel.

Double Bass Bass bummer. What would you do?

Learning the hard way that a Commercial Inland/Marine policy is a valuable tool for a lifelong working musician. Cost me $600 a year for $80K replacement value in stuff. Covers it for just about anything including some yahoo walking out the door off a stage with it while I'm taking a whizz...

Interesting. Not surprising, tension and balance is a pesky thing. I always liked the combination of Gamut topping Spiros but never entirely settled with it. Of course I never tried that mix. Thanks for the tip.
